Elevation Brasserie will remain closed until after Easter Weekend.

It has been seven weeks since Cyclone Gabrielle forced us to close. People in Piha and Karekare who we know lost their homes and nearly their lives, yet the media does little to broadcast this. The road 100m away from Elevation started to collapse and has sunk 300mm overall. Although the road has been partially restored to use with a single lane and traffic lights, Auckland Emergency Management and Auckland Council have decided to keep the Waitakere Ranges closed to the public while our communities recover (see the two links below).

It is our responsibility as a good corporate citizen to reduce additional damaged to the damaged road by contributing to reduced traffic over the damaged road that is being assessed for repair. We would prefer that this strategic road remains open for emergency responders, trades people and AEM and Auckland Council personnel. There is also an issue with customer safety for those trying to enter or exit our car park. Once Auckland Transport has been able to organise a plan to resolve the challenges Elevation faces in returning to standard operation, we will update you with what is happening.

Please share this message to as many people as possible to keep our local communities safe during this time of hardship.

Cyclone Gabrielle has left us temporarily closed. We do not have access to electricity or easy road access. We will post again when we can open again.

Further to our earlier post, AT has now put up these lit signs to be more explicit. Please be considerate of our locals who face hardships right now.

Please, only come out our way if you have business of some sort. Karekare, Piha and Waiatarua are still waiting for electricity. The majority of roads are blocked, and most places are resident only access. Please respect our local communities while we re-coup.

It seems that Gabrielle wanted to make sure we all took a break. It's made sure there is no electricity to Elevation and damaged or blocked Scenic Drive in both directions. We will try to get up there this afternoon to assess the damage, and then make plans for moving forwards.

*EDIT* If you desperately want access out our way you can apparently go via Te Henga and Bethells Rds at the Swanson end. However, you cannot access Karekare, Piha or Anawhata due to slips and road damage. The road in the images may have a temporary repair completed after 2pm.

We are closed today (Sunday, 12th February) and tomorrow (Monday, 13th February). We don't fancy our crew getting stuck up here if the roads flood or there are more slips blocking the roads. See you guys on the other side! :D Stay safe, look after your community.

If you are visiting out this way, please be aware that Scenic Drive from the Shaw Rd intersection is Residents Only.

West Coast Rd and Forest Hill Rd are the only way to get to Piha, Karekare and Anawhata Beaches.
