A new home for each of our growing businesses, The HEKE is where you’ll experience The HEKE Kitchen, Waiheke Brewing Co. and Waiheke Whisky, all nestled into 4 acres of beautiful gardens. Open from Christmas 2021, the brand new restaurant takes its place on Waiheke Island’s much-loved golden mile, Onetangi Straight. With it’s striking interiors and sun-soaked spaces envisioned by Izzard Design’s award-winning architectural & interior design team, the ‘heke is a Waiheke first. A place where rustic meets modern, where class meets the classic kiwi relaxed island lifestyle. We want The HEKE to embrace the kiwi bach lifestyle. A special place to bring friends & family - relax over a roaring fire, watch your food be made in front of you as you dine, taste world-class whisky and watch the kids play on the giant jumping pillow. Melbourne Cup 2026 gets an exclusive Waiheke Island upgrade.

On Tuesday 3rd November, The Heke hosts our first ever Melbourne Cup party.

The Barrel Hall will be transformed for the day with a memorable long lunch and an afternoon of racing, fashion and fun.

Guests will enjoy a three-course menu and a glass of Billecart-Salmon Le Reserve on arrival, alongside music, Fashion on the Field, sweepstakes and coverage from Flemington on the screen. If you’re skipping lunch, The Barrel Hall opens to the public from 4pm, just in time to catch the main race and join the fun.

With just three long tables, you’ll be treated to a front row seat at either The Club Stand, The Grandstand, or The Hill Stand. Named for Flemington, it’s the next best thing to being there!

1 pm - 4 pm Arrival and Long Lunch
3pm - 6 pm DJ plays
Opens to the public from 4pm, in time to catch the main race and join the celebrations.
