Our FREE soup is going strong, and every visit helps our ND crew gain real hospitality experience — cooking, serving, welcoming, and growing their confidence.

Although our café is ND‑run and operated, it’s open to everyone in our community. Come on by, enjoy a warm bowl of soup, and be part of what we’re building together.

And exciting news — one of our team members is launching his Chess Club on 19 August. All levels welcome.

Our team's post-Matariki celebration was a time to remember our previous members and reflect on our journey together with gratitude. We shared our favourite foods. We're proud of our team and its direction, and we appreciate the support from BASE Youth Centre Ashburton We finished off with a Monopoly game, with lots of laughs and shrills!

Another big thank you to everyone who visited Arofa Koha Café this week - despite the cold freeze and rain. Your koha and kindness help create real hospitality training opportunities for our rangatahi.
Our team are growing their confidence in cooking, prep, and kitchen skills — and we’re proud of the progress they’re making every day.
Again, a huge thank you to BASE Youth Centre Ashburton for hosting our cafe and hub space, we appreciate the new heat pump!

Our Eco Educate weighted bear is back in working condition following essential repairs resulting from overhugging and cuddling. Wearing a trendy scarf and newly cleaned, it will be returned to its home at Arofa Koha Cafe BASE Youth Centre Ashburton
