Hi everyone!
I thought it was probably time to introduce myself to the community.
I’m Agustín, I’m from Argentina 🇦🇷 and I came to New Zealand in 2018 for what was supposed to be just one year. I had just finished my degree in Agricultural Engineering and came here to work on a dairy farm, learn more about the NZ farming system, and then go back home.
Well… that didn’t quite happen. 😂
I fell in love with New Zealand, COVID happened, we got stuck here, and somehow I’m still here eight years later!
Three years ago, a couple of friends and I decided it was a good idea to buy a coffee cart and start Café Tango in Christchurch.
The problem? We had a coffee cart but nowhere to sell coffee. 😂
So, with no job, no money, we took the cart to New Brighton Beach and started selling coffee in the car park… let’s just say, not exactly legally. 😂
The ice cream guy called the council, we got kicked out, and three days later we were back. 😂 Eventually, we decided it was probably better to stop before we got into too much trouble!
Somehow, I kept going!
Today, I am the only face left behind Café Tango.
When I started, I knew basically nothing about coffee. I didn’t know about espresso, extraction or beans. But I fell in love with it and haven’t stopped learning since.
Three years of mistakes, experiments, new equipment, bad equipment, great people and A LOT of coffee later, I’m really proud of what I’m serving today.
And I know there’s still so much more to learn.
I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who has been part of the Café Tango journey. You’ve all played a part in getting me here. ❤️
So… that’s a little bit about the guy behind the coffee cart. ☕️
Thanks for being here.
