Originated in Mumbai, Cutting Chai is the archetypal drink of the Indian masses. It’s a piquant amalgamation of milk, sugar, masala, and tea boiled together in a large steel kettle and served to steam hot by the road-side tea stalls. Cutting tea is so-called so because its flavor is so strong that it is served by the half-glass. A lot many discussions, planning, debates, gossips, talks, etc. happens over a glass of cutting chai in India every day. When someone wants half a glass of chai, they order a cutting chai, “cutting” is to cut the amount of chai in half. Our cafe 'The Cutting Tea' is an ode to India’s popular ‘Cutting Chai’.
