𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐄𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐋𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐝𝐬
FTG Nepal participated in the SUSTAIN Project Semi-Annual Workshop on 17-18 August 2026 in Khalanga, Jajarkot to review project progress, share field learning, and discuss and agree on priorities for the coming period.
Discussions highlighted practical areas of enterprise support, including green entrepreneurship, Business Incubation Center (BIC) services, business development, market linkages, value chains and sustainable livelihood opportunities. Food and nutrition security, SIFS and LANN approaches, GEDSI, and MEAL were also reviewed.
The workshop helped partners identify implementation gaps, build on field evidence, and strengthen coordinated action to support viable green businesses and more resilient livelihoods among vulnerable and earthquake-affected communities.

Advancing the Business Incubation Center Through Local Partnership:
Fair Trade Group Nepal, with technical and financial support from BMZ/WHH and in collaboration with WHH, RRN, MIC Nepal, and local governments, organized a coordination meeting with Aathbiskot Municipality and Barekot Rural Municipality to move forward the establishment of the Business Incubation Center (BIC).
During the meeting, the Feasibility Study on Potential Green Enterprises was officially handed over to both local governments. The study findings were well received, and both municipalities expressed their commitment to supporting green enterprise development and integrating key recommendations into local planning processes.
As a practical step toward BIC implementation, Aathbiskot Municipality nominated a focal person, while Barekot Rural Municipality agreed to nominate its focal person at the next meeting.
These commitments reflect growing local ownership and provide a strong foundation for a sustainable Business Incubation Center that can promote entrepreneurship, support green enterprises, and contribute to local economic growth.

Despite difficult road access during the rainy season, SUSTAIN Project activities in Aathbiskot Municipality remained on track. Led by Fair Trade Group Nepal with support from BMZ/WHH, RRN, and MIC Nepal, the project shared feasibility and market study findings, promoted green enterprises, and worked with the municipality to advance a locally owned Business Incubation Center with technical support from the SUSTAIN Project.
Local coordination also improved, with priority given to women, youth, marginalized communities, and earthquake-affected households during enterprise selection.
We thank Aathbiskot Municipality, ward representatives, community groups, and our partners for their continued support in strengthening resilient and sustainable green livelihoods.

Strengthening Partnerships to Create New Opportunities for Green Livelihoods in Barekot Rural Municipality
With technical and financial support from BMZ/WHH, Fair Trade Group Nepal, in partnership with RRN and MIC Nepal, is advancing green enterprise development in Barekot Rural Municipality, Jajarkot through the SUSTAIN Project.
During July 2026, FTG Nepal collaborated and worked with Barekot Rural Municipality and local stakeholders to conduct coordination meetings, present the findings of the green enterprise pre-feasibility assessment, and discuss the establishment of a Business Incubation Center to support local entrepreneurship and sustainable economic development.
The meetings identified priority green enterprise opportunities, strengthened local coordination, and supported a transparent entrepreneur selection process, with priority for women, youth, marginalized communities, and earthquake-affected households. These efforts are helping build sustainable livelihoods and a more resilient local economy.
Thank you to Barekot Rural Municipality, ward representatives, community groups, and our partners for your active participation and continued support. Together, we are creating stronger opportunities for sustainable livelihoods.

One More Step Towards Building Resilient Communities

Empowering Local Governments for a Greener Economic Future:
Under the SUSTAIN project, Fair Trade Group Nepal (FTGN), in coordination with RRN Nepal and MIC Nepal implemented by Development Vision Consultancy, is leading a pre-feasibility and market study on green enterprises. The study has been completed in Barekot Rural Municipality and Aathbiskot Municipality.
The work is expected to support local-level business incubation, strengthen enterprise sustainability, and help improve long-term economic planning in the local government.
With the involvement of local governments, stakeholders, and community groups, and support from BMZ and WHH, this initiative contributes to building stronger and more sustainable local green economies.

Day 3 of the Social Entrepreneurship Bootcamp at Nesfield International College was filled with learning, creativity, and meaningful connections. The session focused on the Lean Canvas Model, helping students explore how social issues can be transformed into practical and sustainable enterprise ideas.

Participants also had the opportunity to learn from a real-life case shared by Mr. Rahul Shakya from Manushi, gaining valuable insights into how social enterprise concepts are applied in practice.

The day ended with a heartwarming cultural exchange between Nepali and Japanese students. It was truly inspiring to see their curiosity, openness, and enthusiasm as they learned about each other's communities, shared experiences, and worked together to develop solutions to social challenges. Moments like these remind us that innovation grows stronger when diverse perspectives come together.
