King Vikramaditya established this lunar-solar calendar in 57 BCE and it controls the cultural and religious functions of Nepal. (The Nepali New Year) which falls on Baisakh 1, mid-April, is the start of enhancement, progress, change of seasons and even renewal. This calendar also relates to the agricultural cycle of the country, making it beneficial for farmers and the communities across Nepal. Renewal celebration, celebrations of temples, and blend in features like cultural events makes the Bikram Sambat New year very fun and exciting.
