On our journey from Sapana Village Lodge today, we went birding along the banks of the Rapti River at the edge of Chitwan National Park, not far from the lodge. While photographing birds, we were delighted to spot the critically endangered Gharial (Gavialis gangeticus) basking in the sun. It was truly a wonderful sight to behold these magnificent and prehistoric reptiles in their natural habitat. The Gharial is one of the world's most threatened crocodilian species, making every encounter with this incredible creature both rare and unforgettable.
