BISKA 2081 Starting from 9th April till 17th April .

Biska Jatra is a famous annual festival that takes place in Bhaktapur, a historic city in Nepal, as well as in other parts of the Kathmandu Valley. It marks the start of the Nepali month of Baisakh—the first month of the Bikram Sambat, the official lunar calendar of Nepal. This festival, rich in cultural heritage and rituals, is celebrated for several days and is known for its chariot processions, tug-of-war competitions, and other traditional activities.

One of the most notable features of Biska Jatra is the er****on and pulling of chariots dedicated to various deities. In Bhaktapur, a large chariot carrying a representation of the god Bhairava and a smaller one for the goddess Bhadrakali are built and pulled through the narrow streets of the city in a lively and sometimes chaotic event that attracts thousands of spectators from all over Nepal and beyond.

Another highlight of the festival is the tug-of-war between the eastern and western parts of the city, which is believed to bring good luck to the winning side. Additionally, high poles known as "lingo" are erected in various parts of the city, symbolizing the beginning of the festival. The climax of the event in some areas involves the dramatic and dangerous practice of climbing a tall pole to retrieve a prize.
