Fire, patience and a shared table. The Argentine tradition of asado inspires both our cooking and our approach to hospitality.

At Qué Pasa, that inspiration takes on the flavours of a Norwegian autumn. Rack of lamb from Gudbrandsdalen, Jerusalem artichoke purée, chorizo sauce and chimichurri rojo. Tender lamb, earthy sweetness and warming spice bring the two culinary traditions together.

At the table, we leave room for conversation, good company and the pleasure of an unhurried evening.

Sometimes, a lesson in food begins at a cheese stall, with a taste and a conversation that leaves you even more curious.

We’re making the most of our time in Latin America to learn. Tasting, asking questions, exploring ingredients, techniques and local traditions. Giving markets and the people behind everyday food just as much attention as the restaurants we visit.

We want to deepen our understanding of the cuisine at the heart of Qué Pasa. What gives it its character, where its flavour combinations come from, and why they work.

We’ll return to Hamar with fresh ideas and a deeper knowledge to guide how we bring Norwegian ingredients and Latin American cooking together. And an even greater appetite for learning. 🤍

Tostada de atún

A crisp corn tostada with tuna and mango. Deep, roasted notes of recado negro balanced by freshness, sweetness and the heat of habanero grown at Hubred Gårdsbutikk .

Ingredients like these connect our kitchen to the place we call home. Mexican inspiration meets chillies grown right here near Hamar.

Qué Pasa is taking a short break while we gather fresh inspiration in Latin America.

This journey brings us closer to the flavours, traditions and people that inspire our kitchen. From local markets and neighbourhood tables to restaurants offering new perspectives on familiar ingredients, we’re tasting, listening and learning along the way.

For us, inspiration goes beyond what’s on the plate. It’s in the stories behind a recipe, the generosity of a host and the way food brings people together. These are the impressions we want to bring home to Hamar and share with you through our own cooking.

Norwegian ingredients. Latin American identity.

Our doors reopen on October 15. We look forward to welcoming you back to our table!

PIPIÁN VERDE

A small pumpkin seed with a long history.

Pipián belongs to a family of sauces with roots in prehispanic Mesoamerica. Ground pumpkin seeds are at its heart, giving it body and a distinctive nutty flavour. In Maya cooking, roasting and grinding these seeds has brought depth to simple ingredients for generations. This tradition remains alive today.

At Qué Pasa, we interpret it through ingredients grown close to home. Our green pipián combines pumpkin seeds, aromatic epazote, and jalapeños grown by Hubred Gårdsbutikk in Ridabu. The local chillies bring freshness and gentle heat.

We serve it with grilled elote corn, cherry tomatoes from the same farm, and pickled shimeji mushrooms. Sweetness, acidity, and contrasting textures come together in the creamy sauce. Alongside it, we serve a machete, a flatbread filled with black beans and cheese. Tear off a piece and dip it into the pipián.

The dish is served on handmade ceramics by Hege Loe Hansen . The irregular rim, expressive texture, and earthy colours become part of the composition.

Tradition, local produce, and craftsmanship meet at one table.

In ceviche, everything rests on balance. Acidity should bring out the flavour of the fish, heat should add depth, and the accompanying ingredients should give the main ingredient room to shine.

Rooted in Peruvian cuisine, this dish finds its expression at Qué Pasa through Norwegian ingredients. We use isgalt, a deepwater fish from Norwegian waters. At the heart of the dish is leche de tigre, a vibrant citrus marinade that brings all the flavours on the plate together.

Our interpretation of a Peruvian classic. Available on our à la carte menu.

In Argentina, asado is more than a barbecue. It’s time spent together, conversations by the fire, and the patience that brings out the best in the meat.

At Qué Pasa, we take inspiration from this tradition, serving grilled rack of lamb from Gudbrandsdalen. Autumn is lamb season in Norway, making this a fitting moment to celebrate a local ingredient we love for its tenderness and delicate flavour.

A plate worth slowing down for. And company worth staying a little longer with.

18/18 from Hamar Arbeiderblad.

Food 6/6. Atmosphere 6/6. Service 6/6.

“A restaurant that knows exactly what it wants to be, and this time delivers it better than ever.”

These words mean just as much to us as the score itself.

Qué Pasa is our interpretation of Latin American flavours, built around Norwegian ingredients. It is also every little detail that shapes an evening at our tables. We are so pleased that Hanna and Henriette recognised the work and heart we put into this place.

We are proud of our team. And to our guests, thank you for every visit, every return and every recommendation to someone close to you.

Today, we have a reason to celebrate. 🤍We are proud of how far we have come, and just as excited about what we still want to create and share with you.

Time is an ingredient too.

Daikon cut into delicate flowers, kombu and a long fermentation. Preparations for your dinner begin long before you take your seat.

A small detail on the plate. A lot of patience in the kitchen.

Some evenings stay with you long after the last guests have left. This one was truly magical, and we know we’ll be looking back on it with a smile for a long time.

Our Four Hands Dinner at Qué Pasa was more than a dinner. It brought together people, passion and two culinary worlds for one unforgettable evening.

Mon Kas thank you for bringing a little of your world to Hamar. Thank you for sharing your knowledge, your creativity and the care you put into every dish. Above all, thank you for your warmth, generosity and the joy of cooking together. Sharing a kitchen, exchanging ideas and bringing it all to our guests was a real pleasure. ❤️

To our entire team, thank you for the hard work and heart you put into making this evening happen. And to our guests, thank you for joining us, trusting us and filling our restaurant with conversation, laughter and so many kind words. You made the evening feel truly special.

We’re left with beautiful memories, so much gratitude and every reason to gather around the table again.

Monika, we hope this is just the beginning.
