(you should of told me about it earlier)

Besides a seriously cool place to hang out, meet people, have a coffee, learn how to express your self with paint, words..
there is a real home dinner served every Tuesday at 17:00 (you should reserve your spot till before 13:00 the same day) for 3,50 euro.
Wednesdays there is soup cooking at 12:00, eating till it's finished and costs whatever you feel like giving.
Home cooking done right there from inspiring local and exotic real house cooks (and retired professionals like myself), cooking you can also enjoy the preparation by watching or helping.

A few standard rules, first time to try is always for free -GRATIS-, we dont cook with pork and alcohol, the cook doesn't clean ;)
..so... for those who re looking for the chance to play with me in a full of positive energy kitchen and eat with us, check it out and join! I will be cooking next weeks dinner and to check your favorites out (and who is actually reading :)) ) any ideas on what I should make??

yeah... I m requested for greek so got too many to choose from...

Often i offer a piece of cake, call it a wishing pie, when i have the time i say more. This story is one i like to pass along, spread it as requested in it.
I heard it from my mother and she from hers. I say it as i remember it There was a guy, Fanourios and he became a saint after he died. Went to heaven, met God and he offered him a wish as a reward. Then Fanourios asked for his mother's soul to be saved as she had lived an evil life, hurting people.
She was in abyss among all lost souls. God told him to take a hair from his long curls and hold it down there for his mother to grab from. The mother's soul grabbed the hair, held from it and shouted at her son to get on with it laughing and kicking away all the souls that tried to be saved with her. Evil beyond the bone, she broke the hair falling back her self so nobody of them losers would be saved.

Fanourios went back to God begging for forgiveness for his mother... All humanity must first forgive her, he replied.

Now... for those of you who don't know, we Greeks have a constant give-and-take thing, with everything, even our saints.
We make this pie then, give it away in pieces in church or in the neighborhood, and by giving or having a crumble we forgive sant Fanourios's mother. We make it when we lose things asking from Fanourios to find anything... the house keys, the cat, (our minds- hey, if i make a wish to a saint anything is then possible.., no?)

I spread it when i need positive energy, put a lot in it as well and it (strangely enough) most times works. Then again- i guess- give a little sugar to get a little sugar, right?

About yesterday...
Love it when I get requests with a little challenge in them. In this case, a vegan lunch for 2 was what to choose from all the wonderful things that grow on earth and don't walk swim or fly!

No questions on how healthy, sustainable and moral it is to feed like that..

As a carnivor I have great respect for vegans and often a little pitty cause of the lack of choices they get in restaurants etc. But These two I took care of yesterday had more than salads for sure. Was geen broodje groenten.

They started with a dried green pea mousse in a shell (getting obsessed with those), seaweed, garlic sauce with almonds and a lemon pearl, went on with potato salad, ntolmadakia with fresh grape leaves, marinated in vinegar and chillies cucumber, smoked aubergines spread, fried mushrooms, aubergine chips, courgette , bbq sauce, guacamole, stuffed aubergines(imam), mixed veggies stew, stuffed tomatoes.... and for dessert a trio sorbet ananas, mango, cherry's and berries, rose water halva, strawberries semolina cream, orange and cherries cookies(a twist on melomakarona) and of course more fruits

The " Prive cook Katerina Argo experience" for Gea and Jacques through his eyes and words.

Goed. We hebben dus gasten over de vloer en Katerina Argo Araka heeft voor ons gekookt vandaag. Dat was een bijzondere ervaring. Om met de deur in huis te vallen: de hoog gespannen verwachtingen zijn ruim gehaald.
Katerina Argo Araka kwam om een uur of half vijf binnen met wat tassen en frommelde wat in de vriezer voor het dessert. En al voor vijf uur begonnen er appetizers aan onze tafel te verschijnen. Niet zomaar appetizers, maar echt heerlijke kleine gerechten. Het begon met 3 x 4 mini taartjes, met o.a. bacon en spinazie, met intense smaken. Daarna pitta´s gemaakt met geelwortel, boekweit en volkoren broodjes. En een schaal met de lekkerste tzatziki die ik ooit gegeten heb, huzarensalade die volgens Katerina Russische salade moest heten, een Russisch bietengerecht en nog zo wat. En ntolmadakia, heerlijk rijst in bladeren, lekkerder heb ik ze nog nooit gegeten. Tegen half zeven gingen de voorgerechten langzaam over in hoofdgerechten. Eerst een heerlijk garnalengerecht met tomaten en feta, biologische oregano burgers met okra, tomaten en erwten, biologische lamskoteletten, maar ook gestoofd lam, heerlijk!
En toen nog een overvloed aan heerlijke kleine toetjes, het een nog lekkerder dan het ander.
Nou ja, de foto´s spreken voor zichzelf. We hebben niet alles meer opgekregen.
En door dit alles heen was Katerina haar opgewekte zelf, genoot bijna net zoveel als wij en toen we in de keuken kwamen kijken of we al konden opruimen bleek zij dat al te hebben gedaan.
Kortom een aanrader!
