Open Monument Day returns on 12 and 13 September, and this year's theme is Resilient Heritage in Times of Uncertainty.

Our three houses have been shaped and reshaped over hundreds of years. The buildings we work in today are the result of choices made by the people who came before us, and the choices we make now sit inside that same continuum.

Château St. Gerlach opens its doors on Saturday as part of the official Open Monumentendag programme. On Sunday, in the same spirit and in honour of the weekend, Château Neercanne welcomes visitors on a guided tour led by Camille Oostwegel Sr. Both are a chance to step behind the scenes, into the spaces and the craft that keep these monuments alive.

OC Awards Spotlight ✨ | Heritage Award: Cor Schormans

Say Château Neercanne, and you say Cor Schormans.

For more than 25 years, Cor has been the face, the heart and the listening ear of the castle. He joined in 2000, starting in the restaurant, and since 2010 has served as host for events across the estate. From meetings and corporate parties to birthdays and fairytale weddings, the last of which hold a special place in his heart.

The magic you feel when Château Neercanne first comes into view in the distance? Cor is a big part of what carries it.

Behind every wedding, gala and celebration at our houses sits a team who prep the room while you are getting ready, plate for hundreds without breaking rhythm, and quietly reset it all so the day feels effortless.

At the pass, Raoul and Remco keep the kitchen moving. On the floor, Anne, Karin and Cathelijne hold the service together. To all of them, and the wider brigade around them, thank you for the hard work behind every celebration.

Summer, at the table.

Across the collection, terrace season is at its fullest. Menus led by what the fields, gardens and orchards are giving us this week, and evenings that stretch late enough for another course.

At Restaurant Château Neercanne, Chef Robert Levels holds his Michelin-starred rhythm right through the season. At L'Auberge, long summer evenings and seasonal plates find their place on the terrace. At Les Salons, Chef Guido Le Bron de Vexela's summer cooking finds its way to tables set under the trees at Château St. Gerlach, while Burgemeester Quicx keeps things relaxed with long, easy lunches on the terrace.

Some of the best evenings of the year happen on a plate outdoors.

Summer, at its slowest.

The middle of August in South Limburg has a particular pace. Long afternoons surrounded by nature and no real reason to be anywhere in a hurry. Our houses are made for these moments.

Some of the best moments this summer are ones you can taste the estate in.

The WIJland Harvest Dinner at Château St. Gerlach, celebrating a vegetable garden shaped by regenerative principles. And the Honey & Hive Dinners at L'Auberge, drawing on hives just outside the kitchen.

Being a B Corp is a promise we keep making about how our hospitality connects to the land it belongs to. These evenings are one of the ways that promise arrives at the table.
