Almost closing: Are you or do you know a visual artist from the Middle East, North Africa or its diaspora? PhotoVogue is looking for you!

PhotoVogue invites photographers and video makers from Middle East and North Africa (MENA), as well as those from the diaspora who maintain a meaningful connection to the region to apply for their new open call. Previous editions have included artists such as Mous Lamrabat

Across all genres, from fashion to documentary, portraiture, fine art, and beyond, they are looking for work that reflects the richness, complexity, and plurality of experiences across the region, as well as practices that push visual language in new and unexpected directions.

Eligibility & Submission Period
Submissions are free and open on Picter from May 21st, 2026 to September 24th, 2026 (closing at 11:59 PM CET).
* The open call is open to all artists aged 18 and above.
* If you have previously applied to a PhotoVogue Open Call, we encourage you to submit a new project.

What to Submit
* A series of up to 15 images, or a combination of images and video in the case of multimedia projects
and/or
* A 60-second video trailer

At a time of profound transformation across the region, this open call aims to create space for artists to represent themselves and their communities on their own terms, fostering visibility, nuance, and connection through image-making

Grants & Opportunities
* $8,000 in total grants awarded to three artists
* Presentation at the 2027 PhotoVogue Festival
* Potential publication across Condé Nast titles in the region
* Participation in PhotoVogue Virtual Portfolio Reviews

Issam Chorrib is a winner of the Tasweer Project Award with A Pair of Gloves, documenting the dedication and resilience of boxers in the neighborhoods of Sidi Moumen and Lahraouyine. عصام الشريب

Haitam Nsais is recognised with Fallen Seagulls, a project documenting the factory where he worked for four years and the daily lives of his fellow workers. The work reflects on difficult working conditions, repetitive routines, and the sacrifices workers make in silence. haitam.nsais

A story of art, silence, and love hidden in an attic for decades.
He would often drive to tulip fields and sit for hours, just watching. Months later, he would turn those memories into paintings.

On his deathbed, he gave his daughter permission to share his work. His only wish:
“If someone hears about me, may they say Allah yerhamou.”

UNTIL THE END OF AUGUST IN LONDON AT Broadwick Soho

In Moroccan art, horses have often been shown as strong and fast. Ismail Zaidy shows a softer and more elegant side from a still perspective. The rider is there, but we don’t see who it is. This makes the horse the main focus of the image.

“Horses have always been amazed me. The way they hold calm and strength in the same body. There’s an audacity to them, and a presence that feels almost regal. They carry themselves with a quiet nobility, powerful but never restless, and that contrast is what makes them so hard to look away from.

What I love is how poetic they are and that’s exactly what pulls me toward them as a photographer. I’d wanted to capture them for the longest time, and last year, al Hamdolilah, I finally got the chance, more than six times. Something opened up for me in those sessions, and now I’m building a whole new project around photographing horses in a poetic way.”

The work is currently on view at Broadwick Soho in London and is available for acquisition.

Last week to see Hassan Hajjaj’s take over at Sotheby’s London with his most recent exhibition celebrating London’s next generation of creatives.

Hassan Hajjaj is an internationally celebrated Moroccan-British artist based in Marrakech. His work combines photography, fashion and design, drawing inspiration from Moroccan culture, street life and pop art.

In My London Rockstars: Ends to Estates, Hajjaj celebrates a new generation of London creatives shaping the city’s cultural future. A generation that Hassan recognizes himself growing up in London. The exhibition features Central Cee, Slawn, Joy Crookes, M Huncho, Walid Labri and Clint 419, alongside many other artists, musicians, designers and entrepreneurs.
Many of the people in the exhibition come from multicultural backgrounds and immigrant families. Their stories reflect creativity, resilience and the cultural diversity that defines London today. My London Rockstars: Ends to Estates is more than a photography exhibition, it is a tribute to the people who continue to redefine London’s creative scene.

As part of the takeover, Sotheby’s café has been completely redesigned in Hassan Hajjaj’s signature style, bringing his iconic JAJJAH café experience from Marrakech to London. Filled with colourful patterns, furniture and his distinctive visual language, the café becomes an extension of the exhibition, immersing visitors in Hajjaj’s vibrant world.

The youngsters leaving Morocco for Ceuta have been impacting many for the past week. Tanger based photographer B E N Y E K H L E F has been capturing the events for Medi1 of the past days:

“It was really heavy to process everything while actually being there. The tension made it hard to focus sometimes. I did not want to push any one story with the shots. I think the images might show what it was actually like on the ground. That part still feels a bit unclear to me.”

❤️ 🇲🇦 Thank you Morocco for makingthe dreams come true of entire generations witnessing for the second time history being written by Équipe du Maroc and healing their and our traumas

Our generation has been growing up with witnessing defeat after defeat in the first rounds or not even qualifying for the World Cup which went hand in hand with self esteem and self belief, watching sometimes the generation before us becoming emotional and feeling defeated.

To see a new generation growing up being able to witness this and feel that they can be present on a world stage and be part of a world performance has been the victory for us.

🇲🇦 Tonight is the nights. The tension is building, and you can feel it everywhere. For some of us, the nerves are so intense that we don’t even want to watch. For some of us this match tonight, is more than just a soccer match. Playing against France has always been something more symbolic and complicated one. Stories about Morocco’s French past always rise during a match like this one and what it has meant since then.
