Dear Hummus Lovers,
May will be a nostalgic Hummus farewell month, with all the dishes you love!
After more than a decade of serving you delicious hummus and pita sandwiches, we have decided that Sir Pita will be permanently closing at the end of May.
Our story began when we moved to Amsterdam 15 years ago and fell instantly in love with the city - its relaxed vibe, bike culture, and picturesque canals. But something essential was missing: really good hummus. Back then, finding quality hummus was nearly impossible, and that inspired us to create a place that would take hummus-making seriously. No shortcuts, just dedication, quality ingredients and constant improvement. Sir Hummus was born.
When we opened our doors in 2015, the response was amazing. So many of you felt as passionately about great hummus as we did. For six incredible years, we created not just meals but a community space full of good vibes and great food.
But life changes. One partner moved on, our family grew and soon after, COVID reshaped everything. Staffing challenges and skyrocketing inflation following the war in Ukraine made it increasingly difficult to sustain our beloved hummus concept. We adapted by transforming into Sir Pita, hoping to offer something delicious yet more accessible. Despite our efforts, it just wasn't enough. We learned that your love for our hummus was unmatched, and ultimately, the pita sandwiches couldn't fill those big shoes.
So here we are, at the end of an amazing journey, ready to move toward new adventures. We want to finish with a bang - a delicious, nostalgic farewell. For the entire month of May, we'll be bringing back your favorite hummus dishes, including classic toppings like pikant aubergine and slow-cooked beef.
Come join us, share memories, and enjoy one last hummus fix (or ten)! Check our calendar for the details.
Thank you for all your support, warmth, and love throughout the years. We couldn't have done this without you 🙌😘
