Meet the team: Don Wigleven, someone you've probably already said good morning to. 🤗

Don Wigleven joined WTC The Hague eight months ago as junior team leader security/hospitality. He leads a team of nine at security and reception.
Don knew pretty quickly he'd landed in the right spot: "The building is beautiful, but it was the atmosphere that got me. I walked in and thought: this is my place."

What he does all day? We can't tell you everything, for obvious reasons. Think opening and closing rounds and keeping the building safe for our tenants. But there's plenty of hospitality in the job too, from taking in deliveries to fixing the small stuff that breaks.

Ask him about his favourite part and he doesn't need to think twice: "The people. And a good chat in between, that's what makes my day.
People don't have to have a problem to come and talk to me. I just like a chat." So if you see Don, say hi. You really don't need a reason.

You're invited, tenants 🧑‍🎨

On Thursday 15 October we're going to the Business Evening at Art The Hague, and we'd love for you to come with us. Over 55 Dutch and international galleries are taking part. It's a great chance to meet other entrepreneurs and professionals from the region and make some new connections. The art makes an easy icebreaker, and it's a good excuse to leave the office a little early.

We'll welcome you at stand 21 (WTC Rotterdam Art Gallery) between 4 and 6 pm. The fair stays open until 8.

Not ready to go home yet? After our WTC welcome, you can keep the networking going at the Art Café, where entrepreneurs and members of several business clubs have dinner together.

What really keeps a WTC community moving?

Meet Eveline Kolk, Managing Director of WTC Rotterdam and WTC The Hague. A key part of her work is strengthening the WTC community and connecting people and organisations: locally and internationally.

What is your main focus?
"For me, it's about creating meaningful connections. A WTC should be more than a workplace. It should be a place where people meet, exchange knowledge and discover new opportunities."

How does the WTC team make that happen?
"Through events, partnerships and our international WTC network. These bring professionals and organisations together and create opportunities for new ideas and collaborations."

What are some good examples?

At WTC The Hague, we recently celebrated the Chinese Mid Autumn Festival with a live performance and a lantern workshop. Moments like these bring cultures and traditions together, and that's exactly what an international community needs.

In June 2027, we will host the WTC GATRI at WTC Rotterdam. It looks at developments affecting international trade and investment and what they could mean for the future. Professor Dr Rob de Wijk will chair the session and share his perspective.

Why does this matter?
"Because this is where the real value of a WTC comes to life: bringing the community together, strengthening our international network and creating conversations that matter!"

In this way the WTC teams ensure that WTC Rotterdam and WTC The Hague turn from places to work into places to connect.

Werkliefde. Yes, that's a real word! 😍

It's National Vitaliteitsweek from 21 to 27 September, and this year's theme is Werkliefde. Loosely translated, it means loving what you do and where you do it.

The idea is simple. Work takes up a huge part of our lives, so it should give us energy, not drain it. Feeling connected to your colleagues, finding meaning in what you do, and yes: sometimes just enjoying a good coffee break.

At WTC we see werkliefde in the small moments. A quick chat by the coffee machine, someone holding the elevator. A workday that just feels good to show up for.

And we do our bit too. We keep working on our facilities, hospitality and amenities to make every workday that little bit better. Call it our own version of werkliefde for our tenants 💖

The World Wide Web turns another year older today. Since 1989 it has changed the way we work, meet and do business.
But let's be honest: some connections are still better made in person. A handshake in the lobby, a chat at the coffee bar, a chance meeting in the elevator. That is our kind of networking.

Deposit update from WTC The Hague!🐢

Your empty cans and bottles raised another €110.80 last month. That brings the total to €231.25 collected since January 1st.
All proceeds go directly to the Plastic Soup Foundation, helping to fight plastic pollution in our oceans.

You'll find our turtle shaped deposit bins next in the main lobby. It's easy, impactful and just a short walk from your desk.
Let's go beyond last year's number, one bottle and one can at a time! 💰

✨✨The people behind the sparkle ✨

If you’ve ever walked into our building and thought: “This place just feels good!”, there’s a big chance that’s thanks to Chaouki, Laura and the rest of our cleaning team.

Day in, day out, they make sure the building looks spotless and welcoming. But honestly, it’s more than just cleaning. It’s the friendly good mornings, the smiles in the hallway and the way they always seem happy to help.
It has a huge impact on how people experience the building every single day.

And since today is Cleaner’s Day, it’s the perfect moment to put them in the spotlight for a change. Thank you Chaouki, Laura and the entire team for all the hard work, positivity and care you bring to the building every day 👏
