Early 2024: no tents. Today: almost 1,000 square metres of them.

José Chorro (on the right) built from scratch in Petrer, in the Alicante region, to work the events and tent-rental market. His first stretch tents came off our floor in the Netherlands. He kept coming back.

The growth is his. We keep the canvas coming.

First cake. Then a tour. Then we handed our colleagues loaded rifles.

We work with people from more than one country, so this year the company outing crossed a border. Our colleague Richard, who lives in Germany, planned the whole thing and hosted us in Emmerich, a town on the Rhine.

The main event was a proper German Schützenverein. The target was a bird. A fake one, before anyone worries. You could score on the head, the wings or the whole body, and Richard had made his own prizes for each, handed out at a full ceremony as if rewards were at stake. For some of us, they were.

Barcelona in high season is not a concept. It’s a phone that doesn’t pause, a space that needs to move fast, and a team that has been doing this since 1992.

We visited Pepe Jover de Llanza at ASEcarpas, our partner in the city. Saw how they operate when demand is at its peak. The calls, the decisions, the details you only notice when you are actually there.

Some venues come with features you would not want to remove.

On this project in Spain, the location had palm trees growing in the middle of the terrace area. The brief was to cover the space without losing them.

The result is a sand-coloured stretch tent that fits the landscape. Olive fields, Spanish mountains and a swimming pool frame the scene.

You take the highway south of Logroño and the vineyards start almost immediately. Low stone bodegas, dry earth, rows of vines that disappear into the next hill. Somewhere in the middle of all that sits the HQ of Haima Tents.

We went there.

The team is young, Spanish, and not the kind that waits for the easy projects to come to them. Some weeks they build wedding tents between the vines of Rioja. Other weeks they pack the trucks and head into the actual desert. Same canvas, same poles, two very different skies.

Their HQ has one of our stretch tents standing in the front yard. Permanent. A working demo for the clients who pull up.

Their name comes from the desert. Haima is what the Spanish call the tent of the nomads, borrowed from Arabic a long time ago. Fitting, for a company that refuses to stand still.

We came home with a camera full of photos and a quiet kind of respect.

A stretch tent attached to a building looks different from above. Especially when the building sits in a national park.

That is the takeaway from a drone flight our colleague Dani made over Forestique, an outdoor centre and event venue in Pelt, Belgium, right in the middle of Bosland National Park.

We built them a 13 by 13.3 meter sand-coloured stretch tent with luxury sidewalls, mounted directly against the facade of the venue.

Forestique hosts weddings, group events and what they call “onvergetelijke momenten” in this space year-round.

White tent. White thread. White nail polish.

A few hundred square meters of white canvas spent this week on our sewing tables.

It is a large export order, white stretch tents headed to one of our international clients. The fabric arrives by the roll. From there it gets cut, joined, reinforced, and finished with loops and patches at every point that will eventually carry weight.

The detail we noticed last: Anneke wore white nail polish that day. Whether it matched the tents on purpose, we forgot to ask. The work matched, that we can confirm.

About an hour out of Barcelona, the city falls away.

You drive past dry hills, low walls, the occasional olive tree, and you arrive at a masia. White walls, a quiet pool, old palm trees that have probably outlived a few owners.

Our partner installed one of our stretch tents on the property last season.

What they did not do is the best part. They did not cut down the palm tree that sat in the way. They let it grow straight through the canvas, so the tent and the tree now share the same address.

This is where weddings happen here. Where long family lunches turn into long family evenings.

Fifteen years old, a student at and trying to answer the question every teenager gets sooner or later.

A three-week orientation internship with us seemed like a good way to find out what a workday actually feels like.

From the inside it is a single open space, ready for a beauty event in Barcelona.

We love that you can almost count the legs on this thing.
