It is time to challenge outdated market assumptions about Ugandan coffee.

While Arabica often dominates speciality coffee headlines, over 80% of Uganda's coffee production is high-grade Robusta, making Uganda the world's fifth-largest Robusta producer and a top-tier origin for cup quality.

Grown near the Equator in Greater Masaka at altitudes of 1,250–1,300m, our naturally processed Robusta consistently scores 80–85 and offers rich, complex tasting notes of dark chocolate, molasses, dried fruits, spices, nuts, berries, and caramel.

In partnership with Dutch speciality roaster , we introduced coffee from our Kalisizo cooperative near Lake Victoria as a single-origin speciality Robusta in the Netherlands for the first time.

Instead of treating Robusta as a cheap commodity, collaborate with Ndugu to introduce fully traceable speciality-grade Robusta from Uganda to your roastery.

Smallholder coffee farmers in Uganda's Greater Masaka region are facing a stark reality: Unpredictable weather patterns are disrupting traditional farming calendars.

We treat climate adaptation as a core part of how we do business.
By transitioning farmers like Michael to regenerative agroforestry, we are physically climate-proofing our supply chain.

Shade trees shield Robusta from extreme heat, keeping the soil moist even during delayed rains, while moving away from expensive, unmeasured synthetic inputs to precise, timely fertiliser applications lowers production costs.

Our promise to farmers is simple: We don’t just buy from you. We grow with you. This harvest, one of our incredible women coffee farmers, shared how her hard work is directly transforming her family’s future from improving her home and paying school fees to investing in livestock for long-term security.

But her impact doesn't stop at her farmgate. She has a powerful message for other women in the coffee community:
"The advice I would give to my fellow women is to be proactive in meetings. Learn about coffee—how to plant it, how to prevent diseases, and how to use fertilizer properly. When they learn that, then they will also know how to grow coffee successfully."

‘Sustainable coffee’ is everywhere. But what does it actually mean for the farmer who grew it? We prefer to call ours Impact Coffee, and here is the difference.

Impact coffee means the farmer earned more. The cooperative invested in health, education, and resilience.

The farm was grown regeneratively and traced to plot level. And every claim can be verified.

Meet Ismail, a young coffee farmer in greater Masaka who attended one training session and walked away with a completely different vision for his farm and his future.

Before MaCBee, he was spending most of his money on pesticides. Now he has beehives, macadamia trees in the ground, and something he didn't have before—confidence.

That is what happens when you invest in young farmers, not just with seeds and tools, but with knowledge, economics, and trust in their ability to figure it out.

40+ youth earning as extension agents.
2,000 farmers in MaCBee 2—20% of them are youth.

This is what the future of Uganda's coffee sector looks like.

Introducing Biochar4All.
Ndugu Farmers has joined forces with Carboneers and Ecokick backed by AchmeaFoundation to explore a farmer-owned biochar model for coffee-growing communities in greater Masaka, Uganda.

We'll be prototyping cooperative biochar production hubs with smallholder farmers, testing soil health improvements, input cost reduction and yes, even automation potential.

We spent years watching climate training follow the same script: nice slides, attentive rooms, but zero change on the farm.

So under the CBI Uganda Climate-Smart Coffee Project, we changed our approach entirely.

Co-creation sessions with farmers revealed something critical: climate messaging doesn't move the needle but showing lost income does.

Healthcare access for 2,500 coffee-farming households in greater Masaka is finally here.
The AFYA Health Card program works through a cashless, cooperative-led health financing system.
What does this mean?

Farming families across our network can now get the care they need without having to sell their coffee early, spend their savings, or go into debt to pay for a hospital bill.

We are honoured to be developing this alongside Elucid , ETG , Pure Africa Coffee , and Rijksdienst voor Ondernemend Nederland .

We followed our coffee all the way to Antwerp.

Our team toured the Port of Antwerp, getting a first-hand look at how Ugandan coffee arrives in Europe, is processed, warehoused, and distributed to traders and roasters across the continent.

It was nice to see our coffee stacked in the clients' warehouses.

And then we looked up, and the Antwerp Port House was flying our flag.

That one hit different.

Ugandan coffee is earning its place at the table through volume, quality, trust, and relationships with partners who believe in what we're doing.
