Wishing everyone a wonderful Orthodox Christmas 💛
ርሑስ በዓል ልደት ✨
Orthodox Christmas in Eritrea, known as Ledet (or Genna), is a major religious holiday celebrated on January 7th, following the ancient Julian calendar used by the Eritrean and Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church, differing from the December 25th date in the West. Celebrations involve a 40-day fast (vegan), all-white church attire, dawn services with hymns and drumming, traditional feasts (like Ga’at), and playing the traditional hockey-like game of Gena.
