Hi all! Let me properly introduce myself… My name is Christiaan. I was born in Capelle aan den IJssel and raised in Rotterdam. Ever since I was a kid, I’ve been obsessed with sports and pretty competitive too. So when it was time to choose a direction after primary school, picking a sports education felt like the obvious choice.
But to be honest, school was never really my thing, but getting that diploma mattered. Once I had it, I knew continuing my studies wasn’t for me. Growing up, I was always taught that if you’re not in school, you work. So that’s exactly what I did.
I started working through an employment agency and that’s where I got my first taste of the hospitality industry. From building festivals to working behind the bar in restaurants. I loved every second of it. The energy, the fast pace, the people… it gave me a lot of satisfaction and quickly made me realize this world suited me perfectly.
Eventually, it was time for the next step, and through mutual connections I ended up at Ter Marsch & Co in a management role. That’s where everything really clicked for me. I discovered how much I love hospitality, and also how naturally leadership fits me.
