For generations, pastries have made their way from the Patisserie into the hotel served with afternoon coffee, brought upstairs for special occasions, or enjoyed after a long day by the sea.

And today, you might still spot our Patisserie team making their way through the corridors, carrying something sweet to a guest.

Why are they called petit fours?
The name literally means ‘small oven’ in French.

Traditionally, bakers used the gentle, fading heat of their ovens after the day’s main baking was done. It was just right for smaller, more delicate creations.

Over time, petit fours became the little pastries we know today: small in size, but made with just as much attention as anything larger.
