🥃 Sommige aankopen zijn verstandig. Deze was dat waarschijnlijk niet.
Ik heb een fles Louis XIII Cognac gekocht.
Niet omdat het financieel een goed idee was. Niet omdat iemand mij heeft overgehaald. Maar vooral omdat ik hem zelf altijd al eens wilde proeven.
Nu staat er een fles Louis XIII achter de bar van de Shamrock en vond ik het eigenlijk zonde om die ervaring niet te delen.
Daarom schenken we hem per 10 ml voor €75.
Eerlijk is eerlijk: dat is een stuk minder marge dan gebruikelijk. Dit gaat dan ook niet om winst. Het gaat om de kans om één van de meest iconische en legendarische cognacs ter wereld eens te proeven zonder direct een complete fles aan te schaffen.
En ja, 10 ml klinkt misschien weinig, maar dat zijn gewoon een paar mooie nipjes waarmee je rustig de geur, complexiteit en indrukwekkend lange afdronk kunt ervaren waar Louis XIII om bekendstaat. Meer dan genoeg om te ontdekken waar al die verhalen over gaan.

I bought a bottle of Louis XIII Cognac.
Not because it was a great financial decision. Not because anyone encouraged me to. Mostly because it was something I had always wanted to experience for myself.
Now there's a bottle of Louis XIII sitting behind the bar at The Shamrock, and it seemed a shame to keep it all to myself.
So I've decided to share it.

To be honest, that's a much lower margin than you'd normally expect. This isn't really about making money. It's about giving people the opportunity to taste one of the most iconic and legendary cognacs in the world without having to commit to buying a whole bottle.
And yes, 10ml might not sound like much, but it's enough for a few proper sips to take in the aroma, complexity and remarkably long finish that made Louis XIII famous. More than enough to understand what all the fuss is about.
