Did you know that before Argo, Herestraat 91 was a family home, and later one of Groningen’s best-known music shops?

In 1909, the address was photographed as the home of the E. de Grave family. Four rare images still survive, showing their dining room, front room, and salon.

In 1912, Muziekhandel Vink opened here. For almost 98 years, this address was filled with pianos, sheet music, records, and sound. The shop eventually expanded into number 93 and remained part of the city until 31 December 2010.

Today, the soundtrack is a little different. Herestraat 91 is still a place where people meet, now over specialty coffee, cinnamon rolls, and Greek treats at Argo.

From salon, to sound, to espresso. One address, more than a century of stories.
