Three years ago we opened Stean’s Beans Kenya with the goal of bringing our specialty coffee roastery closer to origin.

Bright, chilled, and refreshing: here’s a simple V60 flash brew that brings out sweetness and clarity in your coffee. 🧊

Ratio: 1:15 coffee to total water (including ice)
Hot water: 60%
Ice: 40%
Yield: 2–3 cups

RECIPE
• 40 g Moja coffee
• 360 g hot water
• 240 g ice
• +100 g hot water for preheating & rinsing

YOU NEED
• V60 02
• V60 paper filter
• 600 ml server
• Gooseneck kettle
• Scale
• Grinder

METHOD

1. Prepare
Bring your water to a boil. Insert the paper filter into the V60 and grind 40 g of coffee.

2. Rinse
Rinse the filter thoroughly with hot water to preheat the brewer and server. Discard the rinse water.

3. Add the ice
Place 240 g of ice into the server and tare your scale.

4. Add coffee
Add the 40 g of ground coffee to the V60 and gently shake to level the bed. Place the V60 on the server.

5. First pour
Start the timer. Pour 100 g of hot water in a continuous circular motion, starting from the centre and moving outward before returning to the centre. Complete the pour in 10 seconds, then pause.

6. Second & third pours
At 45-second intervals, pour: 140 g followed by 120 g.
Complete each pour in approximately 10 seconds.

7. Serve
Once the brew has finished dripping, remove the V60 from the server and serve immediately. You may add some extra ice to your cup to make it extra cool.

Lyublu is a Specialty coffee, Photography & Events space at Waterlooplein Amsterdam.

Former principal dancer at Het National Ballet, Artur Shesterikov, stayed in the neighborhood and, with the support of Amstel 1, opened this beautiful spot where you can get inspired by the temporary exhibitions highlighting Amsterdam based artists, or flip through their photography book while enjoying a cup of delicious coffee.
