Sometimes art — whether in cinema or in cooking — finds its true meaning in personal interpretation of tradition.
Just like West Side Story, inspired by Romeo and Juliet:
when it first premiered, critics said it strayed too far from the original.
Yet years later, it won ten Oscars and became a timeless classic.
The same is true for Persian cuisine.
Flavors change from city to city, from home to home —
every cook brings their own story, memory, and touch.
At Zaferuw, we honor the roots of Iranian cooking,
but we also cook through our own lens and experience,
because we believe difference is the soul of food.
We always welcome feedback and reviews,
seeing them as opportunities to learn and evolve.
Every change in our menu reflects that continuous dialogue
between our kitchen and our guests.
Zaferuw opened its doors on March 15, 2020 — the night of the first lockdown in the Netherlands.
Like many small restaurants, we could have disappeared,
but with the hard work of our team and the support of our guests, we stood and grew stronger.
In the end, we truly believe that
it’s the people who give the final verdict —
with their taste, their experience, and their hearts. 🌿
