Since March 2024, we have proudly opened the doors to our beautiful new location at Oosterdok, near the picturesque IJ. De missie van A Beautiful Mess is om mensen met een vluchtelingenachtergrond een veilige en welkome omgeving te bieden waarin werkervaring kan worden opgedaan en een professioneel netwerk wordt opgebouwd. Het restaurant heeft werkervaringsplekken voor alle niveaus binnen de horeca. De betrokken Amsterdamse restaurants bieden vervolgens werkplekken voor medewerkers van A Beautiful Mess.

Murtada discovered his passion for cooking through a friend he had known since he was two. His friend ran a small restaurant, where Murtada learned to make an authentic Sudanese soup, a recipe that now carries the memories of a cherished friendship and the moments they shared.⁠

Sadly, Murtada lost his longtime friend to the war. Murtada continues to share his warmth, positivity and love for cooking, bringing the flavours of Sudan to A Beautiful Mess.⁠

One of his favourite dishes? Sudanese Siyadiya Halibut, with tamarind, spices, almonds and raisins, a dish full of flavours that remind him of home.⁠
