You know when you’re told not to play with your food as a child but what if you make playing with food, fi*****ng it, smearing it, toying with it a profession?
Then you get to play all day long. I loved working in shoots with photographers learning about new cuisines, outside of my repertoire and god damn playing around with food, beautifying it to make gorgeous pictures like these.

Life has been an absolute 🌪️ I guess as it always promised to be in this year of the fire horse!

After many years of trying but not managing, because we’re both busy ladies, I finally got the chance to work with from talking about whirlwinds, this woman knows how to get things DONE.

I hosted a wonderful night for their Communities dinners with some exceptional female entrepreneurs. It was a night of good food, good drinks and incredible company.

I made:
Popadums with sweet potato cavier.

Jamaican peppered shrimp dumplings in a bisque with Chandon Beni oil

Peppa pepper skewers accompanied by pineapple and cucumber chow, & finally rice and peas

All finished off with Tres Lecche with orange zest and finished off with some of that fresh from the Island of spice (Grenada) cinnamon.

I was talking with my friend Willa Stoutenbeek about visibility recently — how showing up, consistently and boldly, creates real momentum.
She’s living it. Watching her campaign for GroenLinks Amsterdam is seriously inspiring.
So when she mentioned visibility… I had to laugh. Because how’s THIS for visible 👀
Seeing yourself on a very large poster in Amsterdam is something I won’t forget anytime soon.
I’m honoured to be one of 160 Role Models for the Equals campaign, celebrating women across the Netherlands defining success on their own terms.
Visibility matters to me every day. It’s why I created Atelier Code Noir — a space for diasporic chefs and artists to share their food, stories, and culture. A place where representation isn’t a bonus — it’s the point.
Because visibility isn’t just being seen. It’s building spaces where people can finally feel: this was made for me.
When you can see the path, you can walk it. And sometimes, you build it.
Thank you Equals for the honour — and Willa for the reminder that showing up is everything 🙌

I’ve been harboring a little secret, one that I am now ready and proud to share with you all.

A few months ago I went through the process of applying to the inaugural ‘Rise to the Table’ Programme.

A year long Programme with the intention of coaching and honing the skills of a select few female leaders in hospitality.

After several rounds of interviews, I am delighted to say I was selected to become one out of only 11 females, globally to have been accepted on this Programme. To say I’m honored is a wild understatement. Not only do I feel deep appreciation for being selected but to even be classed as a female leader in hospitality by a world class reputable brand such as Rosewood Hotels, is just beyond expectation.

I guess all that’s left to do, is watch me rise!

Just a little reintroduction for those that don’t know me. Here’s a little summary of who I am and what I do.

Condiment queen reporting for duty!

It’s no lie that I love pickles, hot peppers sauces and crispy chilli oils, miso’s so much so that I have jars taking over the top, nearly second shelf of my fridge.

Have any favs?

Welcome to the colourful and flavoursome world of Lelani and Paulami, yes our names rhyme!?!

We are back on 12th Dec to bring you a Caribbean and Indian feast. Seems a strange mix of these two cuisines? Well think again!
Since the 19th Century, the Caribbean had a mass migration of Indian indentured workers across the region. And with them, came a wealth of their ingredients, cooking techniques and culture. The multicultural marriage of Indian spices and Caribbean ingredients is a match made in heaven. But don’t just believe me.
Come along to our Dinner Club on Friday 12th December 7pm till late

For four courses to tickle your tastebuds.

Whenever I question my dedication to my work, I just cast my mind back to a freezing cold day in January whilst the photographer asked me to pose in front of colourful doors and buildings with my prop-a pineapple. 🍍
Ridiculous and so worth it. Am I giving tropical vibes?

Sometimes people ask, why did you decide to cook for a living? Something I explored in depth when writing my book. And something I question often, when my body aches from tiredness.

And trust me, you need a large amount of love and passion for the task, because hospitality is one of the least lucrative careers you could possibly choose! Damn it!?! 🙄

But you know what, I should have known working in food or hospitality was something I would have fallen into. Having grown up in a family that toiled diligently to make sure people were well fed, watered, if not a little tipsy, sweat on their brow from dancing too much and a Tupperware in hand full of leftovers- surely should have been indication enough that this is what I was destined for.

And now with it’s my home away from home. A place that I love to host people and have them feel well fed and looked after. Is it perfect? Hell no, but it’s mine and your’s and whoever steps foot in there for the day or night.

A special thanks to everyone who has had faith to host an event with us, or have us cook for their event.
