It is what it is.

Bajes Beach Club has come to an end, which might not come as a surprise looking at the weather. But at the same time, we have decided to again close our restaurant A Beautiful Mess in Amsterdam for a while. Because of corona, unfortunately, we see no other way possible. Our restaurant locations in Arnhem and Utrecht will remain open but in Amsterdam, the risk of staying open is too big. We put the health of our people and guests above all else and for that reason, we are temporarily closing our doors. But our goal is to welcome you all with open arms when it is safe again.

Behind closed doors, our social network will continue and stay active. We work with people with a refugee background who are resilient but also vulnerable. Current times are again increasing the feeling of insecurity and this can result in sadness and stress. The coaches of A Beautiful Mess are making sure that our people will not become isolated. We will be in contact, not only with them but also with all of you. We will keep you updated and stay safe!

Did you know our colourful A Beautiful Mess Restaurant is located inside the old laundromat of the Bijlmerbajes? It's the place they used to wash all the prisoners' clothes, but now you can sink your teeth into our Middle Eastern snacks here.

And those big blue machines you'll be sitting next to? Old dryers!

Weekend is here, which means it’s time to brunch! Come try one of our yummy dishes from the saj, like a rolled labneh sandwich or chicken shawarma with spicy shatta. A saj is a round cooking grill from the Middle East in a domed shape that is particularly used for flatbread. We bake all our saj bread on the spot!
