The open air concept and breathtaking views at Seahorse House make it the perfect destination for those looking to get away. The living room provides plenty of comfortable seating and the kitchen/pantry is fully stocked with everything you would need to entertain. Have dinner and play games at the big table on the south deck. Beat the mid-day heat on the shaded breezy veranda off the master bedroo
m. The two bathrooms are both large and are stocked with clean towels. Enjoy nature's soundtrack of song birds and howler monkeys, or bring your own playlist for the house stereo system. The two bedrooms each have a queen bed with fresh linens. Both have plenty of storage space and en suite bathrooms. There is a deck to one side of the house which is great for eating dinner or relaxing after a day at the beach. The master bedroom has a wrap-around veranda with seating and two hammocks. Guest Access
Seahorse House is rented to only one set of guests at a time who have exclusive use of the private residence. The rental space includes the entire second floor and all decks. Please respect the privacy of the 24 hour security guard/ gardener who resides on the first floor. Guests may use the outdoor shower at the home's entrance and eat fresh papaya fruit growing in the yard. Interaction with Guests
Property manager will greet guests with keys upon arrival and be available during stay. A cleaning service visits midweek with fresh linen, additional drinking water and removes garbage. The friendly and helpful security guard/ gardener has worked at Seahorse House for years. He is very patient with guests asking questions using the house dictionary or an online translator. The Neighborhood
Guests can simply relax or enjoy the many activities Playa Maderas has to offer. Only a short walk down the hill will lead you to some of the best surf break in the area and restaurants directly on the sand. Hotel Hulakai (just down the hill) is a great resource for guests as they offer a great happy hour and excellent food. Getting Around
The house is on a hill. At first it seems a little intimidating, but many guests soon prefer walking to get some exercise. Although the owner's 67 year old mother walks the hill top to bottom, sometimes at night or after a long beach day she prefers to use a vehicle. In Nicaragua 4X4's are generally ideal and can be rented in San Juan Del Sur from the Alamo by El Timon or the National/Dollar rent-a-car at Pelican Eyes. Both Playa Maderas and Casa Maderas hotel (15 min walk from Seahorse House) offer shuttle service to/from San Juan Del Sur for $5 round trip and run 4 or 5 trips a day. Other Things to Note
The eco-friendly house runs off solar power. Typically we find the solar system provides plenty of electric for daily needs including lights, fans, stereo, refrigerator and device charging. The onsite gardener/security guard will be happy to run our generator for guests requiring above average electric usage.
