Casa Las Flores

Casa Las Flores Beautiful colonial home in the heart of Granada, Nicaragua. Just 2 blocks to the town center. We're close to everything, but on a quiet street.

Closing Las Flores

I know that you haven't heard much from us recently, but it's because we had to make a really hard decision: to not continue on with Casa Las Flores.

We've had a great time and we've made some good friends from the guests who've stayed here.

Some of you know the details and I'll probably write an article in our blog in order to help people who are thinking about buying a house here not make the same mistakes we did.

Sadly, this is the last night that we will spend in the house we called home since last May. It was a really hard decision to close, but we are now off on another adventure. :-)

We've got a really cute place on the outskirts of town.

We're planning on starting up something else at some point in the future, but for now, at least, we're going to take it easy.

Thank you all! It's been great.

We needed to escape the roof work going on here, so we took a bus to Jenotepe. What a beautiful city. The market is clean, and the air is fresh. We had some great Chinese food (with a definite Nicaragua flair) for less than $6 total!
We bought 2 libras of café.
It's a wonderful town - it even has a Sinsa!
We had a great friend and guide who showed us around. It was a great day. I really love exploring new places!

Today, I took Pat to a really nice restaurant to celebrate her birthday. The dining room overlooks the Masaya Lake and Volcon Masaya (an active volcano).

I've been embracing many of these already. Life's good! PS. Anyone need any limes?

The Guests of Las Flores rock! :)

Three of our present long term people are volunteering their time as ESL teachers. 1 guest came here to Nicaragua and donated lots of valuable computer equipment and software to the local library. And one former long term guest has been volunteering at an orphanage in Jenotega.

It really feels great to give back to the community.

Thanks, everyone, for doing some really nice things for Granada.
