UNDERSTANDING LOW BLOOD PRESSURE (HYPOTENSION)

LET ME EXPLAIN

Low blood pressure simply means your blood isn’t pushing hard enough through your body.

Your organs, especially your brain and heart, may not get enough oxygen and nutrients.

That is why you may suddenly feel lightheaded or weak.

Normal BP is around 120/80.
When it drops below 90/60, that’s considered low.

But remember, what matters most is how your body feels, not just the numbers.

🔑 HOW IT SHOWS UP
Some people with low BP don’t even know it, while others feel it sharply.
Common signs include:
- Dizziness or feeling faint
- Blurred vision
- Weakness or tiredness
- Cold hands and feet
- Fainting or blacking out suddenly
- Sometimes it happens when you stand up too fast or after sitting for long, that’s your body struggling to catch up.

🔑 WHAT CAN CAUSE IT?
Many things can trigger it:
- Not drinking enough water (dehydration)
- Skipping meals or having low blood sugar
- Sudden standing or posture change
- Blood loss or heavy bleeding
- Heart problems that reduce blood flow
- Some drugs used for BP, depression, or pain
- Infections or severe allergic reactions (in rare cases)

🔑 WHAT CAN YOU DO?
Most times, simple lifestyle changes help.

- Drink enough water: dehydration is a big reason your pressure can drop.

- Eat regularly: don’t skip meals, and include foods with natural salt (if your doctor agrees).

- Stand up slowly: rushing up too fast can make you dizzy.

- Rest if you feel weak or lightheaded.

- Avoid alcohol: it can make BP drop lower.

Usually hypertension is defined as blood pressure above 140/90, and is considered severe if the pressure is above 180/120.
