We are always careful to get the meats we put in our salads from the right places. That's why we at Fruit Fiber n' Beyond choose to join My Meat Sharing Group, cos we know their meats are processed under standard conditions of hygiene and delivery right when we need it.

OUR SAFETY TIPS FOR HANDLING MEATS:
Most people don’t know this but it’s the truth – You can’t see, smell or taste most of the harmful bacteria in your meats. Luckily, you can observe our food safety tips to protect your family from foodborne illnesses. Let me share a few with you:

1. Procurement - Only buy your meats from sources where standard hygiene practices for food safety are observed, like My Meat Sharing Group!

2. Cleaning – Wash your hands and surfaces often while handling food products and meats. Wash hands with soap and warm water for 20 seconds before and after cooking. Wash your utensils with hot water and sterilise them with 1 tablespoon of unscented liquid chlorine bleach in 2L of water e.g. Reckitts fluid

3. Separation – avoid cross-contamination. Keep raw meats, poultry and fish, and their juices, separate and away from other foods. For instance, don’t use the same knives and chopping board or utensils you use for the chicken, for the beef and fish.

4. Cooking – Marinate your meats in a sealed container or ziplock bag in the refrigerator. Always cook to the right temperature.

5. Refrigeration – Refrigerate your meats promptly within 2 hours of delivery. To thaw, put the meat in a ziplock bag, immerse it in a container of cold water, and change the water every 30 minutes till the meat is fully thawed.

6. Freezing – To freeze, wrap your meats in a ziplock bag or sealed contain, and after thawing, make sure to cook it before refreezing. Make sure the freezer is at the right temperature, and keep your meats separate from other items.
