Should that Item Move from the Shelf into your Shopping Cart or Basket?
On a good day, you go shopping,
trying to get products you've probably used
before and even try out new products, with the
goal of sticking to your shopping list.
So do you pick just any item that looks like the
one you've got in mind or the one stated on
your list?
No, you don't!
Of course, you don't!
Why is that?
That's because when you pick up a product,
let's say a cup of Greek yogurt, of course it's yogurt,
and we all know yogurt is natural but the question is,
is that cup of yogurt which you have in your hands natural?
Of course you weren't there when it was prepared,
the product might even have on it,
unsweetened or slightly sweetened,
so you feel
"oooh I'll be getting no sugar or less sugar if I buy this,
I can finally start cutting down on my sugar intake, how great!"
But this situation is just so ironical,
cause research has shown that producers
usually put things like "no sugar" "organic"
"natural" just to get people to buy,
when in truth, the only natural thing that was
used in making the yogurt in your hands is the
milk used, yeah, then it was mixed with several
chemicals.
Ever bought a good looking plain yogurt that
ends up tasting like pap with added flavor?
Then you run to the back of the bottle to read
the list of ingredients used, then you figure out
you've got more than water, powdered milk,
culture and sweetener (for the sweetened ones).
Really??? Just yogurt! But the ingredient list is
going beyond 5 lines, then at the end you find
out that the yogurt has been sterilized, what does that mean?
It simply means the main reason you got that
yogurt has been defeated, yeah, your
probiotics, your life cultures aren't alive
anymore, at this point you realize that your
money has just gone down the drain!
So how do you save yourself from regrets after
shopping?
Whenever you pick up a product off the shelf,
it's takes less than 5 minutes, even if you have
to go online to confirm what that "grammar"
means, just turn the product around to search
for the list of ingredients and do take note that,
ingredients are listed in the quantity of order
they were used… like a descending order.
The highest used ingredient comes first, then
the next highest used till the lowest used
ingredient.
So a product with an ingredient list of about 10
ingredients listing sugar as it's second or third
ingredient is probably high in sugar.
And take note, sugar could be beautified and
called different names, so you could find one
product having sucrose, glucose and even
fructose in it… they are all sugar.
So if you're planning on cutting low on your
sugar intake, know these names and be careful
of what you pick off the shelf.
You should get accustomed to reading the
ingredient list to know what you're feeding your
body with, you could be allergic to an
ingredient there, or trying to stay off some
listed chemicals there, or if you really love your
products to be 100% natural or at least the
base ingredients should be natural, just to be
sure you're getting what's worth your money
and what your health truly deserves…
Learn to read when you go shopping.
