There's something about freshly baked Croissants: flaky, buttery, warm, and moist, crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside- just the way they ought to be. Then, there is the quintessential match with a good cup of brewed coffee. It's worth the calories!.

So what's in a Croissant? The list of ingredients is short: flour, butter, yeast, milk, a bit of sugar and pinch of salt. It’s really not difficult, just a little labor-intensive. (with several bouts of rolling and refrigerating to make multilayer dough).

Trivia: The Croissant was invented in Vienna after the victory of the Holy League against the Turks in 1683. This pastry was originally called the "Kipfel" which is the German word for "crescent" In the year 1770, Marie Antoinette, a 15 year old Austrian Princess, married King Louis XVI of France. To honor their new queen, the bakers in Paris made some "kipfels" of their own. The only difference was that they called it by the French word for crescent, "croissant".
