📣Be part of the 16 Days of Global Action on Agroecology 2026!🌱
Join us from 1–16 October 2026, to build solidarity and action towards a future where rural women can exercise their rights, lead agroecological transformation and live free from hunger, toxic pesticides, violence, exploitation and climate injustice.

In 2026, the campaign will foreground rural women and women farmers in solidarity with the International Year of the Woman Farmer 2026. This year’s theme “Unite, Resist, Transform: Rural Women Fighting for Agroecology, Food, Land, and Climate Justice”, recognise women’s indispensable yet often overlooked contributions across agrifood systems and to promote action on persistent inequities in land, finance, services, technology, education and decision-making.

The APEX Partners gathered in Penang, Malaysia on 30 June 2026 to reflect on six years of collective action advancing food sovereignty, agroecology, and climate justice through people-led development (PLD), a praxis that places communities at the centre of identifying their priorities, shaping solutions, and leading transformative change. Coordinated by PANAP and MASIPAG, APEX brings together grassroots organisations, farmers, Indigenous Peoples, rural women, youth, and advocates across Asia to strengthen people's movements through agroecology, PLD, collective advocacy, and regional solidarity. APEX advances agroecology as a transformative approach that defends farmers' rights, secures land and seed sovereignty, protects biodiversity and Indigenous knowledge, and challenges corporate control of food systems.

The meeting celebrated concrete gains—from community seed exchanges and people-led agroecology initiatives to stronger women's and youth leadership, participatory action research and documentation, and engagement in regional and global policy spaces. The meeting was also an opportunity for all to assess its work and highlight how work in APEX could further improve and reach out to more and new partners and communities. Partners reaffirmed that learning exchanges and collective organising remain at the heart of building resilient communities and stronger movements for food sovereignty. Together, partners remain committed to deepening solidarity, strengthening people's movements, and advancing just, resilient, and sustainable food systems across Asia. 👀 🌾✊🏻

At the heart of Agroecology Youth Network Nepal's work are the youth-led trial farms in three provinces. These plots, often on their family’s farms, function as living laboratories where agroecology is practiced, tested and adapted to local conditions. Rather than relying on external inputs, young people experiment with indigenous seed varieties, mixed cropping systems and farmer-made organic manures, pesticides and biomulches.

🌍 COP30 updates from Belém, Brazil! 🇧🇷

We're advancing our people-led agroecology agenda at COP30, alongside our partners and fellow advocates. Over the past few days, we've organized key events highlighting agroecology as a powerful, people-centered climate solution.

đź“… November 12
PANAP, through our Asian People's Exchange on Food Sovereignty and Agroecology (APEX), held an official COP30 side event:

👉 ”Agroecology as a non-market climate solution under Article 6.8”
The session explored how agroecology can serve as a non-market approach under Article 6.8 of the Paris Agreement—helping countries strengthen their climate commitments through their NDCs and NAPs.
Co-organizers: Alliance Bioversity International–CIAT, Agroecology Coalition, Biovision Foundation, and IFOAM Organics International.

đź“… November 14
We co-hosted another powerful session under the CĂşpula Dos Povos (People's Summit), which brought together 1,300+ social movements and civil society groups worldwide as a counter to the official COP30 talks:
👉 ”Agroecology and action research: Grassroots climate solutions in Brazil and Asia”

Together with the National Agroecology Alliance (ANA), World Animal Protection Brazil (WAP BR), and Peoples Rising for Climate Justice (PRCJ), we exchanged experiences and community-led initiatives from Brazil and across Asia—showcasing how grassroots agroecology drives real climate action.

PANAP partners participating in these events include BARCIK (Bangladesh), MASIPAG (Philippines), SERUNI (Indonesia), and SHISUK (Bangladesh).

We will continue to build and strengthen solidarity with communities and movements across regions, advocating for climate justice, food sovereignty, and people-led agroecology. ✊👩🏽‍🌾🌱
