“The past is to be learned from, but not to live in.”

For Chef Marco, cooking is an act of constant becoming.

Over the past fifteen years, his path has moved through acclaimed hotel kitchens and Michelin-selected restaurants across the region, shaping a style defined by French precision, Japanese restraint, and the layered flavours of Southeast Asia. Yet, he believes a chef should never cook from memory alone.

Now at the helm of Kayuputi at The St. Regis Langkawi, Chef Marco approaches the kitchen with quiet intent, allowing ingredients, seasonality, and instinct to guide the plate.

Beyond the pass, his tastes remain simple. A bowl of rice, often the most comforting reminder of his Asian heritage.

As he settles into the rhythms of Langkawi, he looks to the island’s produce and traditions for inspiration, letting each discovery subtly shape the next chapter of Kayuputi’s Asian haute cuisine.
