8 kittens born in our new cat house, and 7 more abandoned kittens we had to say no toā¦
Thatās the reality of rescue in Kuching right now.
Over the past few days alone weāve rescued 11 cats, with another rescue already agreed for tomorrow. At the same time, weāve been absolutely flooded with messages from people desperately asking for help.
One person today told us: āthereās nowhere else I can send them.ā
And honestly, we know. Weāre painfully aware of it. And weāre sorry that sometimes we simply canāt do more.
The difficult part is this: for the first time ever, we finally have the space.
With our new cat house now open, two separate rescue premises, and our large outdoor enclosure due to open within the next couple of weeks, we finally have room to grow this project properly. We also now have amazing volunteers helping us every single day, meaning we finally have the manpower too.
But right now, what we donāt have is the funding.
Weāve just finished paying for materials for the outside enclosure. Current vet bills are sitting around RM5,000. One cat is booked for major surgery tomorrow, another on Thursday. Rent is now due on two properties.
And those 7 abandoned kittens we desperately wanted to help today? Every single one would need infectious disease testing before entering the shelter. Seven Parvo tests. Seven FIP tests. That alone becomes a huge cost immediately.
The truth is there really isnāt much help for street cats here in Kuching. Thatās exactly why this project matters so much to us. But making it work takes an enormous amount of money.
We donāt want to ask for donations forever. Weāre actively working towards long-term sustainability through future fundraisers, events, and independent business ideas that can help fund rescue properly. We also know TVNR is the only real long-term solution, and weāre working on that too. But large-scale change requires funding and cooperation much bigger than what our tiny team can provide alone.
Right now, we still have to focus on the short term too: how do we help as many cats as possible today?
Because right now we have a backlog of cats needing help. We have the space. We have the people. Weāre ready to keep growing this project.
But we need help with the funding.
If anyone wishes to support what weāre doing, our QR code is attached to this post. Any amount genuinely helps. Our first immediate priority is trying to help those 7 abandoned kittens, but the need goes far beyond that.

And finally, thank you.
To everyone who has donated, volunteered, shared our posts, adopted cats, sponsored cats, or simply believed in what weāre building here; thank you.
Together we really are making a difference for the cats of Kuching. And together, we can take this project even further. š¾
