Recently, Team Gwakrew sempat mengadakan team dinner — simple jer tapi cukup bermakna untuk menutup tahun 2025. Bukan sekadar makan-makan, tapi ruang untuk berbual, ketawa dan mengenali satu sama lain di luar urusan kerja.

“Sesi lepak” sebelum masuk tahun baharu memberi peluang untuk kami to pause, to reflect back on perjalanan sepanjang tahun, dan to reset semangat untuk melangkah ke hadapan. Dengan team yang majoritinya terdiri daripada Gen Z dan milenial, momen sebegini memang amat diperlukan. Hubungan yang telus dalam suasana yang santai, rasa kebersamaan akan lebih mudah terjalin.

Generasi hari ini memang berbeza caranya. Mereka perlukan maklum balas yang cepat, penghargaan dan komunikasi yang berterusan. Dengan budaya kerja yang betul, SOP yang jelas dan sokongan yang baik, semua itu boleh jadi kekuatan yang besar.

Menuju 2026, harapan kami hanyalah untuk jadi lebih baik dari tahun lepas, terus belajar, berkembang sebagai satu pasukan dan sama-sama mencapai lebih banyak kejayaan. Datuk Wira (Dr) Haji Ameer Ali Mydin ordered coffee — and what he did next left us absolutely stunned…

Yesterday (25 November 2025) marked Gwaku’s final event with Khazanah Nasional for 2025 — M.E.S.H UP #8, a knowledge-sharing and networking initiative for communications practitioners to discuss relevant industry topics. But that’s not the main story here!

Let me tell you about Gwaku’s first-ever encounter with Datuk Wira (Dr) Haji Ameer Ali Mydin - the Managing Director of Mydin Mohamed Holdings Berhad

He was one of the panelists invited by Khazanah Nasional Berhad and after the event, instead of rushing off (like many VIPs understandably do), he actually stayed behind to chat with delegates and wind down over some refreshments. He sat at a table right in front of our coffee station and ordered a cup of black coffee.

All standard so far.

But here’s the moment that caught us off guard…

Before leaving, he walked back to our coffee counter… and personally shook hands with every single one of Gwaku’s team members — thanking us individually.

No cameras.
No PR photographers.
No audience.
No “VIP gesture.”
Just genuine human appreciation.

True leadership isn’t performed, it’s embodied.

Humility is not weakness; it is quiet strength.
It signals respect, gratitude, and groundedness.
People remember not what you say… but how you make them feel.

And yesterday, Datuk Wira (Dr) Haji Ameer Ali made our team feel seen.

As far as first impressions go… wow. That was a masterclass in humbleness, and we walked away deeply impressed and inspired.

If a man of his stature can take time to thank the people who brewed his coffee — then surely the rest of us can do more to practice everyday respect and humility in our own leadership journeys

Alhamdulillah! We have just completed our overdue renovation for our Q Sentral outlet, where our story first unfold. Gwaku’s original F&B kiosk, established in May 2016, has served as a strong foundation for our brand, but after nearly a decade, a design refresh in 2025 is both timely and essential.

In the fast-paced F&B industry, consumer preferences and aesthetic trends evolve rapidly—outdated designs can make a space feel neglected and less inviting, potentially deterring new and returning customers.

A refreshed look not only enhances brand appeal and customer experience but also allows for the integration of modern equipment and layout improvements that boost operational efficiency.

Back to our newly renovated café, it’s been a journey getting to this point. Every detail of the renovation was done with our customers in mind — to create a more comfortable, inviting, and memorable space where they can relax and enjoy their time with us.

As we move forward, Gwaku’s commitment remains the same: to serve our customers with heart, offer great food and drinks, and provide a space where they feel at home.
