Hi Guys! As we promised, here we gonna tell a few interesting history about Sandwich.
*Who invented the sandwich and why?*
In 1762, according to some historians, Montagu was such a hardcore gambler, in fact, that in the hours upon hours he spent at the gambling table, he refused to get up even to have dinner. Looking for a way to consume his food without using a fork or getting his cards greasy, he asked his servants to bring him cooked meat in between slices of bread, which he could eat at the gambling table without much fuss. Other historians, more favorable to Montaguβs character, claim that it was not the gambling table, he could not get up from and as such necessitated easy-to-eat food, but the work table, where he was dedicated and diligently toiling, with some tasty but non-distractible snacks to keep him going.
In America, sandwiches were introduced as a main dish in the late 1800s, appearing in cooking books as the main dish, and the invention of sliced bread catapulted them into one of the most widespread types of meal in society in the 1900s, which continues to this day, especially with the establishment of fast food.
Keep all that history in mind and appreciate it, even more, the next time you sit down to enjoy a good sandwich like our delicious sandwichess.π₯ͺβ€
