寿桃“蟠桃”的寓意和象征

送寿桃是中华传统民俗之一，象征着晚辈对前辈的孝敬，每当老年人、前辈过生日时，做后辈的都要送寿桃给前辈以祝前辈们健康、长寿，幸福。 而旧时人们认为老人吃了寿桃会变年轻进而长寿
在中国古代，过寿的人通常在家里自设寿堂，挂起大红的寿幛，桌子上放着寿面、寿果和用麦面或米粉做的“寿桃”。
“寿桃”尖上染成粉红色，好像仙桃一般。此外，一些人家中的墙上还会贴上诸如寿星老人、麻姑献寿、东方朔偷桃、八仙上寿、蟠桃献寿等画，以增添喜庆的气氛，其中“寿桃”成了图画的点题标志。亲朋好友来庆寿时，也会送上“寿桃”，甚至在唱祝寿辞时，也要点到“蟠桃”。
那么，为什么桃子在贺寿时居于如此重要的地位呢？这大概与古人对桃树的信仰及西王母的神话传说有关系。
《神异经》记载：“东方有树，高五十丈，名曰桃。其子径三尺三寸，和核美食之，令人益寿。”可见，桃树是神树仙木，其果实可以益寿。
神话中，西王母娘娘做寿，设蟠桃会款待群仙，所以一般习俗用桃来做庆寿的物品。献桃贺寿是中华传统民俗之一，有着悠久的历史。寿桃的寓意是长寿，寿桃象征着健康幸福的祝福。

The Meaning and Symbolism of Shou Tao "Pantao"

Sending birthday peaches is one of the traditional Chinese folk customs. It symbolizes the filial piety of the younger generation to the elders. Whenever the elderly and seniors celebrate their birthdays, the younger generation should send birthday peaches to the seniors to wish them health, longevity and happiness. In the old days, people believed that the elderly would become younger and live longer if they ate the peach.

In ancient China, senior people usually set up their longevity halls at home, hang red birthday banners, and put longevity noodles, longevity fruits and "shou peaches" made of wheat noodles or rice noodles on the table.

The tip of "Shou Tao" is dyed pink, like a fairy peach. In addition, paintings such as the old man with birthday, Magu offering birthday, Dongfang Shuo stealing peaches, Eight Immortals Shangshou, Pan Tao offering birthday and other paintings will be pasted on the walls of some people's homes to add a festive atmosphere. When relatives and friends come to celebrate their birthdays, they will also send "shou peach", and even when singing birthday speeches, they should also order "pan peach".

So, why is Taozi so important in celebrating birthdays? Presenting Tao He Shou is one of the traditional Chinese folk customs and has a long history. The meaning of longevity peach is longevity, and longevity peach symbolizes the blessing of health and happiness. Shou Tao also refers to the peaches used for birthday celebrations, which are generally made of flour, but also fresh peaches.
