I’ve shared a lot about what changed.

Many of you have asked me what I actually did differently. So perhaps it’s time I share the things that genuinely helped me.

It took me more than two & half years of experimenting and staying disciplined. I was willing to do the work, because I was in was lonely, confusing and depressing place. And I knew I didn’t want to stay there . So I started changing the things that were within my control:

I quit alcohol. It’s now been over 2½ years

I found a menopause doctor who listened to me, she started me on Hormone therapy (oestrogen and progesterone), which has been a game changer for me personally. That changed everything.

I started reading. One book that completely changed my understanding was The Menopause Brain by . I genuinely think every woman should read it. Now I am reading The Peri Menopause Revolution by

I changed the way I eat, because I wanted to feel better mentally. I cut out sugar. Started prioritising protein, healthy fats, & vegetables. I still eat fruit—mostly citrus & and berries.

I started taking strength training seriously. 3 sessions a week-progressive overload. I shifted my mindset on fitness- investing & compounding in the strong woman I hope to become at 70.

I walk more & take the stairs to my condo. I do Barre 2 x week, which has been incredible for my mobility, balance, flexibility and core strength.

More recently, I started training for long-distance running. This one has surprised me because it’s teaching me something I’ve struggled with my whole life ( I get too competitive). Now I want to enjoy the process, be patient- to trust adaptation instead of chasing for immediate results.

I’m also learning to recover & stop seeing recovery as laziness, instead, recognise it as an ESSENTIAL part of training. Sleep has become non-negotiable- aiming eight hours every night.

I got rid of all the personal care products in the house as I developed skin allergies- my skin used to flare up ( one of the many peri menopause symptoms). I changed my toothpaste, deodorant, soap, shampoo, washing liquid etc

And perhaps one of the most important things I did……

I had an honest conversation with my family. Especially my husband. About what I was going through- perimenopause and the symptoms and how it was effecting and hurting my daily life.

That conversation changed our dynamic.Today, we’re in a place that feels peaceful, loving and far more understanding than we were a few years ago. 🥹

One thing I’d like to highlight is that, this is NOT a blueprint. It’s simply my experience. What worked for me may not be exactly what works for someone else. Every woman is different- every body is different, each journey and symptoms different.

But if there’s one thing this part of the ride has taught me, it’s that small, consistent changes can completely shift the direction and how u feel in life. And perhaps more importantly, nothing needs to be fix all at once.

To everyone who’s kind and generous enough to share your own story—thank you. It means more than you know. Please keep sharing your experiences. And if you don’t feel comfortable sharing publicly, you’re always welcome to message me privately. ❤️

With love, Franki

I’ve been looking through old family photos lately and found this one of me when I was three years old with my grandfather in our village in Indonesia.

Looking at this little girl now, I realise she had no idea who she’d become.

Since my last two posts, so many of you have reached out and shared your own stories. Thank you 🙏

Thank you for trusting me enough to be so open and vulnerable.

And for those who asked if I’m okay…I am. ❤️

It’s taken me over two years to get here. Not because I found a magic answer. I didn’t.

I simply started paying more attention: to my body, my mind, to the changes I was experiencing- to learning- to accept change.

And slowly, I realised I couldn’t keep living the way I always had. I had to reshuffle my priorities, let go of a few old ways of thinking, and learn to work with my body instead of constantly fighting it.

I’m still learning. Still adapting. Still asking lots questions and experimenting. But for the first time in a long time, I feel at peace with where I am.

Reading all of your messages made me realise something. Every story was different: different symptoms, different experiences, different stages of life.

But underneath it all, many of us were asking the same question.

“Is anyone else going through this too?” I know I was.

That’s one of the reasons I decided to share my own story. Because if even one woman sees a little bit of herself in it and realises she doesn’t have to figure it all out alone, then it was worth sharing.

Because it can be a lonely and painful place. I know mine was. And I don’t think any of us needs another person pretending they’ve got life all figured out.

I know I don’t.

What I hope GUTSY becomes is something much simpler. A place where we can have honest conversations: learn from science, learn from experts, learn from each other’s lived experiences.

And make sure more women realise they don’t have to navigate this season of life alone.

Three years ago, I was at the cinema with my family watching a movie.

Now, I’ve always loved going to the movies. The big screen, the surround sound, eating popcorn and sneaking dark chocolate with sea salt 😋 inside my bag.

But this day had the complete opposite effect.

I walked out of the cinema!

I felt overwhelmed by the loud noise.
The surround sound. The vibrations. People eating popcorn. Someone opening a packet of crisps. People chewing. I hated it 😣😣

I could hear everything and it was driving me insane.

Then my ear started buzzing.

I remember turning to my husband and saying, I need to get out!

At the time, I didn’t think much of it.

I just thought I was stressed. Or tired. Or maybe my ears were becoming a little more sensitive now that I was getting older. Just like needing reading glasses because my eyesight isn’t what it used to be. I needed a justification for my erratic and dramatic action!

The buzzing became more frequent and louder over time, to the point where I eventually went to see an ENT specialist.

They couldn’t find anything wrong. I was so confused and angry 🥹

What I didn’t realise then was that this was around the time I had started feeling less like myself.

I felt… weird.

I remember wondering if I was being overdramatic. Or imagining things. Or maybe even going a little crazy.

The strange thing is that it wasn’t one big event.

It was lots of little things that followed after.

Small things that, on their own, didn’t seem important. But over time, they started adding up.

I’m curious now…Have you ever had one of those moments where you quietly stopped and thought,

“That’s a bit weird…and then brushed it off?

Please let me know in the comments or DM me if you’d prefer to share your story and experiences privately.

I’d genuinely love to hear your story. 🙏❤️

Dear Bungalow 18 Community,

After 3 incredible years together, we have made the bittersweet decision to part ways with Bungalow18 as a multi brand and unit space, to solely focus on our first baby

The journey has been nothing short of amazing, and the love and support we’ve received from all of you has been so inspiring. It’s been a privilege and FUN ( and craziness) to serve you all, and we are immensely grateful for the memories we’ve created and shared.

As we embark on this new chapter, we want to express our gratitude for your consistent support and loyalty- your presence has meant everything to us,

While this decision wasn’t a light and an easy one, we are excited for new opportunities ahead.

This being said, please join us for our LAST Frankitas Collective event as we bid farewell to Bungalow18 with a bang!

Friday, Feb 28th from 10 am to 9 pm
Saturday, March 1st from 10 am to 6pm

Enjoy multi-label sales, clearance items, as well as our display furniture pieces, and a special Salsation session by , followed by an aunty’s ( super cool aunties 😉🫣) party with a female DJ spinning fantastic tunes. It’s the kind of party we’ve been wanting to have, the ones that we like: start early and be back home and in bed at a reasonable hour ( i know a lot of you feel this as much as we do 😂)

Our cafe will be open on both days serving our delicious Indonesian food and extra menu for the weekend. 😋 Reservations is highly recommended as we expect full capacity. 🙏

This isn’t a sad goodbye, it’s a celebration of our new beginnings for Frankitas.

We invite you to join us in our celebration and commemorating this space one last time!
