What are the effects of eating late?
____________________________________________
Late is usually within three hours of going to bed. So, if you work all day and usually sleep from 12 a.m. to 8 a.m., your "late" time would be 9 p.m. to 12 a.m.
There are five major consequences of eating late at night, as listed below:
📌Sleep disruption: People who eat late tend to sleep late. As a result, the sleep cycle is disrupted. This could also explain why you have strange dreams at night.
📌Poor digestion: Eating a late-night dinner causes a number of gastric issues. This is due to improper digestion of the food, which results in excessive acid secretion in the stomach.
📌Weight Gain: At night, your body's metabolism slows down. It is also not as effective at burning calories as it is during the day. As a result, eating late leads to weight gain.
📌Effect on mental health: When you don't get enough sleep, you wake up irritated and moody. You disrupt your body's internal clock by eating late. As a result, there is a greater likelihood of depression and anxiety.
📌Increased blood pressure: Late-night eating and sleeping can also lead to hypertension and diabetes.
