The OG story of Decrypt.

Since we're moving to a new space soon, I thought it would be nice to look back at how this all started.

We opened shop in March 2023.

Six months later, we renovated it again, with a renewed mission. Decrypt 2.0.

Looking back, we were probably a little crazy. But we really wanted this to be a space where we could share the coffees we believed in — coffees that we thought were genuinely good, even if they weren't what most people were used to drinking.

A lot has changed since then.

But the reason we started hasn't really changed.

We still care a little too much about the coffee.

That's the OG story of Decrypt.

Two coffees we’ve been looking forward to putting on the filter bar.

The Gesha Village Rarities OMA Natural comes from Gesha Village’s Rarities selection — micro-lots representing the top 10% of what the farm produces outside of their auction coffees.

This is a really expressive Gesha. Floral and perfumed at first, with bright yuzu coming through as the cup opens up, followed by a brown sugar sweetness that lingers long after the sip. It’s the kind of cup that keeps giving you something different as it cools.

The Tres Cielos Aji Bourbon Hybrid Washed is a very different kind of interesting. Aji Bourbon is an uncommon variety with Ethiopian genetic roots, and the “Aji” name is associated with the spicy character found in the fruit.

The hybrid washed process brings a clean, bright structure to the cup, with lemon and florals up front and a subtle spice coming through underneath.

p.s. Although our cafe has shorter operating hour at the moment, our roastery is open as usual. You can pre-book your coffee and pick-up/get it delivered the next day.
