𝗔𝗿𝘆𝗮𝗻 𝗕𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗼𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗛𝗼𝗺𝗲, 𝗗𝘂𝗿𝗯𝗮𝗻 — it fills me with immense joy to cook for 450 residents and stakeholders at this remarkable 107-year-old institution devoted to caring for the aged in Durban, South Africa. I’m offering my time and craft for this exclusive sappadu on the 15th of May. The event is made even more meaningful through the generosity of my dear friend 𝗞𝗼𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗡𝗮𝗶𝗱𝘂 and his company, 𝗞𝗡𝗙𝗧 𝗦𝗵𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴, who are funding the event as part of their ongoing commitment to community upliftment. 𝗞𝗟 𝗖𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗼𝘀 - my very first 𝘊𝘰𝘰𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘌𝘹𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘒𝘓 was an absolute riot — in the best way. 24 participants, a buzzing kitchen, and the kind of energy you can’t manufacture. We cooked, we laughed, we tasted — and somewhere in between, Malaysian Tamil cuisine came alive in a whole new way. Teaching my food, my way, in the Training Kitchen felt special… but the people made it unforgettable. The feedback? Truly humbling.
