Firewood Penang — A House of Fire, in a House of History

Firewood Penang is located inside one of George Town’s most historic colonial buildings on Jalan Masjid Kapitan Keling.

Built in the early 1900s, this three-storey heritage building was originally part of Penang’s commercial heart, later becoming the Penang headquarters of The Star, one of Malaysia’s most influential newspapers.

Today, Firewood gives the building a new life.

Within its thick masonry walls and soaring ceilings, we cook with the most primal and honest element: FIRE 🔥
