Life in post-pandemic era comes with more uncertainties.

As we are celebrating new year, unfortunately one of our founders was admitted to the hospital. This challenge comes with such great intensity as health is a real treasure of wealth.

Unfortunately, we are unable to operate ULAM as per usual until further notice.

A new couple in town.

Today we introduced another player - freshly made from scratch. Ginger and herbs slow cooked to release it's tanginess.

Our ground remains the same comfort food - nasi ulam freshly chopped in the morning, crispy fish crackers, salted egg and serunding kelapa.

And tanginess happens as we paired this with Kung Pao chicken, a family's recipe from the land of the North.

Come and celebrate this new flavour tomorrow, by 12 pm. See you there!

I hope you miss us because we miss you!

This week, we are still celebrating a new beginning of lunar calendar, and thus, we would love to play an homage to everyone.

Introducing, our ulam ibu to be paired with Gong Bao chicken, a personal family's recipe from one of our founders.

It's tangy, well-balanced and cooked with a memory of our Ma in the kitchen.

We paired it with our fragrant rice mixed with locally sourced ulam, fish crackers, salted eggs and serunding kelapa.

A cause for celebration.

Thank you for the overwhelming support - we are glad you enjoy ikan air Assam as much as we do - and ushering yet another new year, we will be releasing a new twist. Coming very soon!

In the mean time, enjoy the sun, sweat and sleep for a healthier life, for this week, something refreshing and tangy will accompany our nasi ulam.

Unusual lunch by the usual place, this coming Friday and Saturday.

There is a scientific correlation between gut health and human's behaviour.

In Malay language, when someone behaved beyond sanity, we called it as 'tiada hati perut' which casually means no heart and stomach. Only when we grew up, we appreciate the fact that what we feed on will not only influence our health, but emotion.

We are still in the New Year nuances. The year of resetting and cleansing. And as your humble friends, we bringing the east coast of Terengganu to give a weekly seduction of our nasi ulam and fish with air Assam.

Our oceanic journey continues!

Happy New Year everyone. What would be the best resolution besides aspiring to experience new thing and taking care of your body. We got it covered for you, as our journey with fish still continues.

This week, we are serving nasi ulam to be paired with salted egg, serunding kelapa, crackers and Assam fish. Flavours from the east! And while we are in a mood of Gregorian anniversary, let's meet up and close our eyes.

It's time to let our tongue talks.

Oh, what a year.

People said there's always sunshine after the rain (or is it the song?) And we believe that, we experienced that, through our personal and career wise.

We are still alive. Still breathing, telling stories and retelling memories. A human experience.

And through good bonding, we created ULAM, out of love and passion. We wanted to share the memories of our mothers and its beauty.

2022 has been kind, violent and beautiful. An awakening. For us to remember that food and food making, really connect us from one another. It sparks cultural, historical and personal nuances, further proving that we are more similar despite our differences.

Happy new year. It's a blessing, to be alive. And survive!

Fish, is flexible.

Any method of cooking, however simple, if prepared with love and understanding, will not change the way it taste, yet intensify the experience.

Our way of preparing fish is to gently lay them upon the bed of asam keping, ginger, salt and light herbs, just to bring about the flavour while optimizing the intensity of its aroma. Once the tiny boil appears, we stop and let it absorb all the nutrients.

We turn up the heat a la searing, prior serving, to make it crisp while preserving the last note. And then, it's yours to shower it with our version of air Assam, transforming nasi ulam to its full circle.

Our plate of fresh nutrients is back!

Taking over by Nasi Minyak, our Ulam Ibu is back this week! And since we are such playful creatures, why don't we take you to the ocean?

Introducing, Ulam Ibu with Fish Assam. We sourced fresh fish / ikan kembung / rastrelliger / a genus of mackerel to be paired with our own recipe of air Assam: it's tanginess will be best paired with freshly made nasi ulam, salted egg, fish crackers and coconut serunding.

If you miss our nasi ulam, let's come tomorrow by Gala Cafe from 12pm. And, if you have not yet tried our Ulam Ibu, let's us seduce you with a plate!

We had a wonderful journey with Nasi Minyak. To put a little twist, our masak merah is prepared with a smoky first note, giving its way to the later flavor of sweet, sour and spicy. With succulent chicken, in a simple preparation of kunyit hidup and salt, our nasi minyak is simply made with love, of how traditional food will always stand against the test of time.

Thank you for the overwhelming support. Ulam is calling for our name so its journey will continue, with one surprise.

How does a vacation to Terengganu sound like?

Imagine a tropical breeze, with all natural ingredients locally sourced. This week, we make a twist and sharing with you Nasi Minyak Terengganu, fragrantly cooked with herbs and succulent ghee butter. Served with whole leg of Ayam Masak Merah.

We crisp it up with crackers and toasted cashew, together with chopped mints to treat our tongues with that little play.

And as we are simmering the kuah, we heard it's calling your name!
