2020 has been a strange year full of adversity and unexpected surprises; for us at LA ESPERANZA it was the closing of a seven year cycle since we opened for business and decided to call Sayulita a home. In 2019 we found out that our lease would not be renewed and we thought that we would close our doors at the end of this season.. but Covid-19 changed that plan and we had to close down unexpectedly and without any formal closure.
The project started as a spontaneous idea to support our travels and surfing endeavours, we had no idea that it would flourish into a project that meant our lives would change and grow strong roots to this beautiful part of the world that we now call home. We are infinitely grateful to all of you who have supported us along the way, to all the collaborators, family and friends who have played a huge part in shaping who we became as a business. We have learned so much and made so many friends along the way.
In these crazy times of uncertainty and change we have transitioned into a new form and new space, we have been lucky to close one door and open another, starting a new journey in a new location, where we have more space and we can fulfill or intention to offer more than just food and drinks but a platform where our love of music, art, surf and agave spirits can be shared with the broader community of this area. We are excited to announce the opening of our new project Nahual Higuera Blanca
The name pays homage to the traditions of ancient mexican brujos who can shapeshift into animals or forces of nature.
