Now is the perfect time to plant you tomatoes and have harvests though November (and maybe beyond!). Jim will be at Zacateros 46 today (Saturday) from 10am-1pm to help you with your tomato, vegetable, and culinary herb plant selections.

Featured: two great Italian tomatoes:
Pear-shaped and heavily ribbed ‘Gezahnte’. This meaty thick-walled tomato from Naples is semi-hollow, making it perfect for stuffing. Also great for sauces, salads, and eating fresh on the vine. This is one of our favorite heirloom tomatoes. Pinkish-red to solid red when ripe.

And 'San Marzano' tomatoes — the perfect Italian tomato for canning and quick tomato sauces...and they also dry very well! San Marzano plants are indeterminate tomatoes which grow very tall and produce a lot of tomatoes in clusters. You will need to pick out the "sucker" branches and provide support and trellising. If you do not have a lot of room, we also have Roma Paste VF, which are determinate tomatoes and only grow to 4 feet tall. With determinate tomates, you do not prune out the “sucker” branches that from between branches…you just let it grow.

Daniel Beltrán never ceases to amaze us!
Tonight we will be showing his new works at Camino Silvestre, Zacateros No. 46 during our Anniversary Party, 5-7pm, Saturday, December 14.
These two works reflect Daniel's brilliance and imagination. Huichol hummingbird merchants carrying their Christmas goods to market: one, the Nochebuena (poinsettia) seller, and the other entitled "Ponche," the hummingbird merchant selling all the ingredients of Mexico's Christmas Punch: guayabas (guavas), mandarinas (mandarin oranges), tejocote (Mexican hawthorn fruit), flor de Jamaica (hibiscus flowers), and caña (sugar cane.). Wow, wow, wow!

"No Pressure Thanksgiving" continues at Néctar!
Choose between two plant-based options for your post-Thanksgiving Thanksgiving Meal! We will be serving this menu through Sunday afternoon, in addition to our regular menu.

Shown in the photos are our two options for the main course:
A luscious Gardener's Pie with Mashed Potato crust served with Alfredo's Toasted Sourdough Rye "corral" surrounding an herby Rice Pilaf...oh, and my Wild Mushroom Gravy (we serve extra on the side!)

Our gluten-free option: Zucchini Noodles in a savory "Pumpkin Spice" Winter Squash Sauce (a mixture of Butternut, Hubbard, Kabocha, and Acorn Squashes from my Garden). Served with a Harvest Salad with Apples and Mandarin Oranges and a Raspberry Vinaigrette.

And Alfredo's yummy desserts, too! Mini-Pumpkin Bundt Cakes and Pumpkin Pecan Pie! Yum!
