That was last month's news. Now, we're into a new month. It's devastating to think it was February 6th when we were shut down.

We receive regular messages such as this one. Including one the other day asking to make reservations tomorrow for Poncho Blues Alfonso Medina Arzate and Blue Beard Elihu Catalan.

Some don't know we've been sadly closed now for 1 month.

I, also, receive mssgs daily, not to mention always seeing friends and fans of Monarco, asking when we're going to reopen.

Last Wednesday, our attorneys told us, "Two more weeks closed. Maximum. Possibly, sooner."

I believe one day, we'll have vindication. Meantime, what's most important is the return to work of SMA musicians, and, doors open once again for El Monarco fans.

Happy 3 Year Anniversary today to El Monarco‼️

Three years ago, owner Kim Knight, had a vision for 'live' music, a Led Zeppelin presence, great food, beautiful murals, hummingbirds, and monarch butterflies, for San Miguel de Allende.

👏 El Monarco has endured, surpassing a handful of businesses that have failed in that location in San Antonio. The life cycle of a restaurant is short, in an über competitive and cut throat industry. Three years in business is a major feat that is totally lauded.

Fast forward, to current state of affairs.

Sadly, we were not able to celebrate our 3 Year Anniversary today, because of being shut down. Last Tuesday, we assembled a host of Monarco musicians plus many invited musicians as a benefit for our resident weekly struggling artists that have been put out of work. It was a wonderful celebration of the SMA community coming together in support. 🫶

There were over a 120 people in attendance.

Thank you all for your undying belief that El Monarco deserves to be re-opened again soon.

There's been a thorn in our side for over a week now since we were closed down. The stage is empty, musicians out of work, employees out of work, Monarco fans missing it all.

[posted on social media] "When El Monarco opens again, someone should warn the neighbors there's going to be a HUGE party in the streets!!"

I went to City Hall yesterday with our attorney and it's hopeful we may re-open this Tuesday. In the meantime, a couple musician friends approached me, offering to organize a benefit acoustic blues jam in the park to help raise some money for El Monarco musicians out of work.
