Meet Bichi. 🐈‍⬛

Beautiful, bossy, territorial, and just a little contradictory. She has completely stolen our hearts — and the hearts of just about everyone who meets her.

This is her story. ❤️

Cacao as we know it today was domesticated in what is now Ecuador — but in Mexico, we love taking the credit, hehe.

What is true is that cacao was widely used by Mesoamerican cultures, and one of the leading theories traces the word used around the world today to the Nahuatl xocolātl, meaning “bitter water.”

Despite all that ancient history, chilangos eat chocolate casually, without making a whole pretentious thing out of it.

Sure, sometimes we treat ourselves to something fancy and artisanal, but most of the time we reach for the nostalgic — and affordable — classics.

Most Mexican chocolate companies either disappeared or were swallowed up by global corporations
(we hate you, NAFTA).

But a few factories have held their ground and continue making classics, both old and new.

100% Mexican-owned brands:

Bremen Bremen SA de CV
La Giralda La Giralda
Laposse Laposse
De la Rosa Dulces de la Rosa
Costanzo Chocolates Costanzo
La Suiza La Suiza

Sometimes we’re in the mood for something a little more gourmet, so we turn to these options — which are also proudly Mexican:

La Rifa La Rifa Chocolatería
Tan Cacao Chocolates Tan Cacao
Cacao Para Todos Cacao Para Todos
Le Caméléon Le Caméléon Chocolates

On our Mexican Food 101 tour, you can taste as many chocolates from the bulk bins as your heart desires!

Kinda chic to fall in love with Mexico!

Because Mexico is not just a destination… it’s a feeling.

It’s the first bite of a taco that changes your entire idea of what food can be. It’s getting lost in a market, hopping on public transportation, discovering a neighborhood you didn’t expect to love, or sitting down at a table and somehow ending up in a conversation with someone you just met.

It’s coming with friends, coming on your own, and realizing that either way, you’re never really alone. It’s the unexpected recommendations, the “you have to try this” moments, the laughter with strangers, and all the little encounters that make a place feel personal.

Mexico has a way of making everyday moments feel memorable. A meal becomes a story. A stranger becomes a friend. A wrong turn becomes part of the adventure.

And maybe that’s the magic of it: you don’t just visit Mexico. You experience it, one moment at a time.

So yes… kinda chic to lose yourself in Mexico.
To stay curious. To say yes to the unexpected.
To leave with a full heart. 🩷🧡

WTF is Mexico?

Mexico is bright, vibrant, bold, and unapologetically alive.

It’s a place where color spills into everything, where the ordinary becomes extraordinary, and where beauty shows up in the most unexpected places. It’s loud and joyful, deeply rooted and endlessly creative. It’s tradition and reinvention happening side by side, in flavors, textures, streets, markets, celebrations, and everyday life.

There’s something almost surreal about Mexico — the kind of surrealism that doesn’t need to be imagined because it’s simply there. A country that refuses to be beige, predictable, or quiet.

Mexico is not just a place you visit. It’s a feeling. A little chaotic, wildly colorful, deeply delicious, and impossible to forget.

And maybe that’s the most Mexican thing of all: nothing is ever just what it seems 🩷

A little taste of the season 🍉🥭🍌

One of the best ways to experience Mexico is through its incredible variety of fresh, seasonal fruits. From juicy and sweet to tart and refreshing, every bite brings a different flavor, color, and texture to the table. A simple but delicious reminder that here, even fruit can be an experience.
