We had the chance to visit and interview Rufina Ruiz López earlier this year in Santa María Atzompa (Oaxaca). Full story featured in Origin Volume 01, dropping Nov 27 at

Rufina is a fifth-generation ceramist who started working with clay at the age of five.

Her family studio—originally founded by her brothers and now led by Rufina and her sisters—has evolved into a space for creation and transmission. Today, it serves as both a workshop and a community school, where young people and women learn, practice, and preserve ancestral techniques.

Bosque Loxicha, the first coffee from our Agroforestry Pilot and Indigenous Farming Program is now available online through .house

This first community lot is grown in agroforestry systems by seven farmers from the Indigenous Zapotec community of San Agustín Loxicha in Oaxaca (Mexico) at altitudes ranging between 1,600 and 1,800 M.

This medium-dark roast boasts a rich, yet classic profile, with tasting notes of dark chocolate, caramelized sugar, and subtle hints of to***co.

Each bag will contribute to supporting the maintenance of traditional agroforestry systems through local Indigenous farmers who are helping to preserve some of Mexico’s most valuable forest ecosystems.

Looking ahead, our goal is to continue expanding our Agroforestry Certification Pilot and Indigenous Farming Program while advocating for more forest conservation efforts in Oaxaca and other regions like Chiapas and Veracruz.

Special thanks to for trusting our vision with this project and for taking a chance by partnering with us to work with the community we’ve introduced them to. This coffee was sourced in collaboration with them.
